Are catch cans required for a new bike such as an 07 GSXR 750 or does this only pertain to carburated engines?   If they are required, are there any reference sites to describe how this is done?  thanks

you just need to run full race bodywork
the lower fairing is joined under the bike - effectively forming a catch pan
there are a lot of vendors out there - hotbodies, armor bodies, sharkskinz, zumz....

do some digging and find one that works for you
some will make a case for expensive bodywork
6 of this
1/2 dozen of the other if you ask me

welcome to the addiction

The overflow from the coolant reservoir must still be routed to the airbox and the airbox must have any holes in the bottom sealed.

Before you listen to Hawk here, I'd read the rule book. I've never routed my coolant overflow into my airbox. Maybe I've been doing things wrong all these years.

"5.2.15 On 4 stroke machines, crankcase ventilation must be routed into a
heat resistant catch can of at least 350cc capacity or the air box.
A. If ventilation is routed into the air box, any drains from the air box
must be sealed.
B. If ventilation is routed to a catch can, the overflow tube from the
catch can must be routed into the intake area of the carburetors so
that any overflow from the catch can will be drawn into the engine.
C. Radiator overflow and battery vent tubes may be routed into a
separate catch can that need not be vented into the intake area.
D. Final approval of the catch can system rests with the Tech Inspector."

Nope, didn't think so.

The two responses are a little off,

Full race body work serves the purpose of an oil containing lower. Section 5.2.23

Catch can Section 5.2.15 only applies if you route the oil breather lines different than stock. Regadless the drains on the air box should be fitted with caps as opposed to the one way water drain valves they come stock with.
