Gigolo- I am pretty sure I will be running GTO. I still need to sit down and figure out what exactly I will run this season. I am moving away from a Gixxer 600, and will be running a Ducati 996 this year. LOL- I still don't understand CCS's hatred of desmodromec valves (oops, did I just open a can of worms?!?!)

As for GIR, I guess I am a little biased, as it is our home track. The banking, as stated, has little effect on the road coarse. Coming out of T7, you enter the oval, but not at its peak, so the transition is almost non-existent. You are on the Nascar track for a brief period before going onto the NAscar pit-in. You then hit the chicane, and dump back out onto the front straight....this is where you actually feel the banking, and until you learn to nail the right line, it is a bit unsettling on both the rider and the suspension.  But honestly, after a few practice laps, the average experienced rider has no issues with it.

You'll hear a lot of poop-talking about the walls, but the reality is that they are not really an issue. Two areas where walls are a possibility are out of T7, and out of the chicane onto the straight. Both offer a great deal of run-out before they become an issue.

IMHO, GIR's infield is a great course. The entry into T1 is an absolute blast! And T6a/b are a ton of fun, too.

I hope to see you out there, man! Look me up when you're there- #730, always parked on the north end of the paddock.

Cheers,
Ski

I think Mr. Reardon may disagree that the walls are a "non-issue" in T1...

I enjoy Gateway, but T1 is ridiculous.  I have hit the wall.  Wasn't pretty, but I hit solid objects pretty well, thankfully.  There are things that can be done there, as well as many tracks, but they won't get done.  Few tracks honestly care, period.

LOL!  You were within seconds of my thoughts.

I've seen bikes go over the wall in that right hander...is that T4 after where you cross the track?  Mine almost made it.

Again, I do enjoy the track, but I do require a certain amount of restriction from myself there.

I really enjoy T1. It scared the crap out of me my first time running there, and I found myself coming off throttle way too soon (like most newbies) but now- I think the turn is fun. Its much deeper than first glance allows.

I quickly learned that T1 was a spot where you could shed seconds, so by the end of about my second race there, I started coming in there hotter and hotter. Amazingly, you can go into T1 almost pinned in 5th.  Thank God I haven't felt its wrath yet!

not on an inline 4 built after 1987. Unless you are talking about braking before you go into the corner and then getting back on the throttle. You can really rail into there on LW bikes, almost not closing the throttle at allon slower lw bikes, on my superbike I always had to settle the suspension and weight the front end by closing the throttle some. But last year a rode a slow ass bike there and was really close to keeping the throttle 100% open. I run that corner a bit different than most people, but if youre coming out of the chicane with ANY speed at all an inline 4 600 or bigger will be going too quick coming into 1 too keep it pinned. Lots of time your brain is telling you you are pinned, but youre not

Thanks, Ben, for killing the idea in my head that I was much faster than I really am!  LOL- your just mad that Speedy stole your rear sets.

And, I did say "almost" which is not an absolute!   .....jackass. :)

Luv ya Ben!

Its ok I do it all the time. I remeber riding a liter bike for the first time, I was coming out of the corner like man this thing is flying, than I realized I had the throttle about 30% open, open the rest of the way and warp speed here we come! Same goes for my 450 dirtbike, that thing is so retarded fast it shouldnt be sold to the public. My buddy rode it once and came back in and said it didnt seem that fast, I told him to go back out and put the throttle on the stop every chance he got, he was pale as a ghost and whipped when he came back in. I remeber my dad telling me stories about the old gravity cavity. You "could" keep the throttle pinned on his 1100 if everything went right, but he said he would be coming over the hill full tuck, front wheel in the air, that long ass chassis twisting and flexing, and as he is telling himself to keep the throttle pinned he looks over to see his right wrist rolling off the throttle. Sometimes our brains are smarter than we are! T1 is the scariest place on that track, there are other scary places, but they/we have done as good of a job or better than most anyone at making the situation better. Hopefully some people come out and give the place a shot, it really is a fun layout.
