Sometimes it's hard to place the "Happy" in front of thanksgiving.  Many of us have lost family and friends this year, we are arguing with our wives about how much to spend on the holidays cause the economy has eaten our 401k's and savings. (and we want new parts for our bikes)  But when we remember it's not just turkey day, that thanksgiving was originally a time following terrible suffering, loss of life, great discomfort...and yet we survived.  There was no retirement, ya worked till ya died, no hospitals, no A/C, no skeeter spray, and yet there was enough grateful hearts, that celebrations of thanksgiving became part of our culture.  So what hasn't changed?  Hope.  Hope rooted in faith in God.  That things are not so random and out of control that there is no frikin way we are gonna get through whatever crap-storm we find ourselves in.

When there is hope that God really does have a plan for us, it takes the edge off our anger and stress, slides money out of the forefront and puts it in its proper perspective, makes the memories of our loved ones happy and precious.  But best of all, without fear that this physical world is all we got, you find yourself doin stuff to make the lives of others, a little better, hug the wifey a little harder, beat the kids a little less, and yeah, you find yourself thankful.  For a nation that still stands up to the bad guys, thankful for our families, our health, (even with that screwed back from wadding so much), our homes, (though ya gotta jiggle the toilet handle to stop the water), and a little grub on the table...We will survive.  It aint turkey day, its Thanksgiving, and I hope yours is a time of love and to reflect where your life is.  If you happened to get spanked by the #220 bike this season, you need some extra prayer time, cause you boyz is real slow!!!
