Midwest Motorsports Festival is cancelling the event to be held at Blackhawk Farms Oct 11&12 due to low turn out, lack of entries.
It is unfortunate we were not able to produce the entries needed to support such a huge purse for this event.
It should be understood that we will be refunding all participant and sponsor related fees within the next few days and that while we are taking a significant financial loss we will make sure that no one else is compromised in the process. I do understand and expect that there will be some level of fall-out from this decision and Midwest Motorsports Festival (MMSFest) will be happy to address or respond to any issues, questions, or problems that may be presented as a result of this position.

here in a couple of threads in this forum section.

Bummer it is cancelled. I was really looking forward to it. and now it's too late for me to get myself to MAM for that shootout event.

lol.. now I'm with most of us here waiting till next year to race again.. It's gonna be a long winter.

I can understand why amateurs would have a hard time justifying it in their minds.  $500 for the fastest amateur lap, with the weekend fees, gas, and tires you wouldn't even break even (not to say that a regularly sanctioned event makes much more financial sense).  At least that is the way that I understood it.  Sucks though, I wanted to go regardless to see some really fast experts.
