Steve is one tough Marine! He was up and around with a mangled toe shortly after this wreck...my and CCS AM # 89 Jeff P's shorts...well, unfortunately they didn't make it through untarnished!
Glad to see Steve was ok, he and his dad are great people...and yes, I asked him first if it was ok to post the Video...

Thanks, Dennis

I really appreciate you and Larry checking in and helping us out
You guys didn't have to do that, but you did - and that means something

I learned a valuable lesson - Spending a prolonged period of time at your limits invites disaster
Dennis, Larry and Jeff were all a little quicker than I was over the course of the day
But I knew that if I could hit all my marks and ride hard, I could hold their pace and mix it up with them
And I could - I just left myself no margin for error

On "the lap", I ran a little bit tighter line going into the second chicane which pushed me a little wide going up and over the bridge
I was hard on the gas up the hill and when I got to the crest, I felt the bike pushing the front
Jeff (89 - in 2nd) said that once my rear tire hit the paiinted line, it spun up and the rest is .....well, you can see the rest.

I ground one of my toes to the bone but otherwise, I'm ok
My gear did its job and thankfully the bike is repairable
The frame, engine, swing-arm and shock are all relatively ok
The engine was untouched

How lucky am I?
In addition to the fact that I only chewed up a toe, the gas tank ruptured at some point in the crash
But the bike came to a rest with the ruptured side up - preventing a gas spill and likely fire

I'm bummed that my race season is over, but now its time to focus on rebuilding the bike and further developing our program to roll out a hospitality program to host our wounded vets and their families at races next year.

I'll be at VIR to help my dad and will be back and ready to get after it next year
See you all when I see you

Ha!
You know whats crazy?
The bodywork is mostly unscathed
There is a slight scuff on the tail section and the "ears" that come up along the windscreen are cracked
Other than that they're fine
Wierd

The rest of the bike is more or less totally confuckulated

Thanks for the concern, Mark
I'll be pinging you about more work soon
