J Farrell / Speed Tech Motorsp

He is currently at Beloit Mermorial Hospital diagnosed with a collapsed lung. After getting checked out by the infield medic shed following the race he was complaining about chest pain & his voiced changed.
He had blood in his saliva and we immediately got him to the hospital. Corner worker & friend of Tommy, Mike Byrd, took him there.
He has  a tube in his chest to drain fluid and pump oxygen in his left lung.
I just talked to Tommy on the phone and he sounds good. He gets a little short winded after talking for a bit. He says he should be ok and wants to make it to the next Blackhawk in August. He is really eager to make all the rounds and keep his #1 plate. His last #1 plate was in 1996.

Tommy had one of his best weekend racing as he went the fastest he ever did. He feels back up to speed. Hopefully he heals quickly and is able to make the next round. I'm not sure on the prognosis of healing a collapsed lung.

I believe he will be there for a couple days and I will keep everyone informed on his status.

I did see Rob after the crash. He came over to our pit. He is fine other than a strange left bicep muscle. It works fine. I think he bruised his muscle is all.

Rob's whole body is strange... how can he be so damn skinny. He is like 6 feet tall and 140 lbs....that isn't right!

Tommy will be fine.

Jeff

Benji or Jason, can either of you email/pm me with some details?

Good to hear he is doing OK. I talked to him right after it happened and his voice was starting to change! Hey Tommy, heal quickly man!

I won't call him for a few days. I am sure he wishes to rest his voice right now.

Don't give up on your dreams! If an illiterate like K3 can write a book, imagine what you can do!

I also talked to Tommy this AM. He should be out by tomorrow.

He was really thankful for all of the help by the SpeedTech crew, Jason, AJ & Paul Krause and everyone who helped him pack up.

I think he did it on purpose. He wanted to psych out the competition and he also knows that chicks dig scars.

Heal up fast Tommy G! I promise not to make you laugh too hard.

I can't believe Tommy left the track without paying his fuel bill....unacceptable.

Get better old man.

I have this picture of Tommy dragging one of those oxygen cylinders behind him to the riders meeting and having to take the mask off his face to ask a question. Very vivid image...

Latest news from Tommy is that there might be some further problems with his lung. After draining his lung they noticed something strange in the X-Rays again. Possible air pocket or fluid that is not supposed to be in his lung in a certain area?

He will know more tomorrow. Earlier today they said that he could probalby head home today until they saw the Xray prior to leaving. He was changed in regular clothes and ready to leave when they changed him again and hooked him up to an oxygen tank again.

He has a very sore shoulder more than anything. His left collar bone has lots of water in front of it and he is having a hard time putting pants on.

He went from confidence that he would be just fine to now he is not sure what is wrong. He might have to be cut open to repair a lung damage possibly. So he is a little worried on what will happen.

I'll keep everyone up to date as I find out more info tomorrow.

Thanks for the replys says Tommy.

Actually, I think the nurses thought Tommy was just too sexy to let go.

Tommy said he's getting excellent care there and may go home today. (Unless those nurses have an evil plan...)

Well, Tommy fought off the evil nurses.
It was a short battle, he told them he races motorcycles and spends all of his time with his bike.
I think he did have to shoot the crazy one between the eyes though.  :ahhh:

He's going home today.

Jesus Tommy,

We just got reaquainted and you have to go and spit up some blood. Here, let me borrow you Meghan's skirt...I won't be needing it anymore. I sure hope you are back in August because I was really hoping to ram my trumpet up yours and Purk's asses...unless of course you are still sore from the poking and prodding that you received in the hospital.

Benj.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.  Sorry to everyone that was effected by my bowling ball bike and body!

They let me out yesterday afternoon after a little bit of a scare with the lung that collapsed but all is good now.  The collapsed lung actually wasn`t as bad as the tube they insert (while I was awake!) in a hole they make between your ribs!  And even now my shoulder and back hurt way more than the whole lung deal.  Special thanks to everyone who helped out loading and especially Jason, AJ and Paul Krause, and Mike Bird who put a whole new meaning to the title " transport driver"!!!  Hope to be back at Blackhawk in August.

Oh Ya almost forgot.......What fuel bill Rob??? :spank:

butchf

Tommy, so glad to hear from you. My friends and son all wish you the best!
Joe Denohw is our mechanic. He also was concerned.....Get well! and rock on with those new laps!!!
