sad day for racing

Why the hell is this sad!?  The AMA was heading for the toilet!  Who the hell wants to watch the same two guys run away with the lead and watch everybody else fight for the scraps.  I don't know about you but it makes things awfully boring when first and second place have a 15 second lead after the second or third lap.

I may not agree with everything they're proposing, but it's not set in stone yet.  Something needed to change.  Wouldn't you rather see someting like World Superbike?  That is some of the most exciting racing I have ever seen!  At any race there are at least 5-7 guys who could win the race.  Look at the last race at Misano, The top two guys were on PRIVATEER bikes.  When was the last time you saw anything but a Yosh Suzuki on the top of the box?  A shakeup was desperately needed!

Ah, you guys with no sense of history.....Tis a sad day because the  AMA has been around forever as the head of American racing, of all kinds. It's sad that instead of working out their problems, getting better management for the varied racing series they just chucked it all. It's a bullshit way to deal with their problems.

I don't see DMG as the salvation to AMA's troubles. Anytime a business with the history of AMA goes under it's a sad day in my book.

I know that...........what I'm talking about is the racing series! It's a long, rich history that should have continued in my opinion. But, because the new man in charge, Rob Dingman,  didn't have a background in racing he sold the series down the river.

It could have been resolved within with some work but he and now the entire board has taken the cowards way out.

I'm just afraid that DMG is going to turn the AMA into NASCAR instead of into World Superbike.  I agree, I prefer to watch WSBK races, but I'm not sure the changes they are proposing are going to fix what's actually wrong with things.

maybe it could have been resolved...but to say they took the cowards way out is a bit harsh.

Seems to me the AMA decided they didn't want to run the series and opted out so they could concentrate more on the political side - protecting our rights to ride - both on and off road.

Maybe DMG wont make it better - but I refuse to make a decision on it until 2009 begins and see what happens.
Better? Worse? only time will tell...but it's far from a sad day...that would be not having a professional  US roadracing series at all.

If DMG can make Nascar popular ... I look forward to seeing what they can do to bring our sport mainstream

Yes! yes!  Now the AMA can concentrate on the truly important issues...  like defending some moron's right to ride in flip-flops and without a helmet.

We all have to wait and see what happens with this mess. But, I think it could have been handled much better than it has been.

There never had to be wholesale changes as DMG came up with. A bit of reorganization and a better rule book could have taken care of the immediate problems and then they could have worked from there. Throwing the entire series into the trash and trying to start from scratch was not, as they found out, the way to do this.

End of my opinion.
