Right angle tire valve

I've seen right-angle tire valves on street bikes, and I'm wondering if there are any adverse affects for using one on the front wheel of a race bike?  The rotors make pressure checks/fills a bit difficult, so I was thinking that one of those right angle valves would make access a bit easier.  It's not as much of a problem on the rear wheel, but any issue with using a right angle valve on the rear wheel?

Thanks for any info!

I have them on my bike, installed them on a bunch of customer bikes, and we use them on our AMA FX bikes. No downsides and they make pressure checks a lot easier. I personally use the 90º on the front and the stubby stems on my rear rim.

Thanks, I did not know that was her name but I just ordered a bunch of stuff from her - maybe if it hasn't shipped she can add a couple of them to the order.

I was just concerned that with all of the centripetal acceleration involved that it may be an issue, but if you use them on AMA FX bikes then they're good enough for me :)  Hopefully they're available in full SS.

you can also get them from k&l  through about any bike shop. i got my alum. ones there for about $12 ea.

yes hers are a little cheaper but look at the difference in product. i have several of julie's that i am replacing with the k&l ones.  nothing wrong with hers but some of the others offer a closer fit to the rim giving you more clearance from the rotors which is the ultimate goal.

Rick,

I properly demonstrated centripetal forces  a while ago with my memorable start at Gateway! :)

I would like to thank Yamaha, Michelin and my lack of understanding of physics for my awesome display on the track....

Scott,

I think you displayed aspects of physics that are still in the 'theory stage.'  The empirical observations haven't produced consistant results.  Yet.   :spank:

FYI,

After reading about many peoples wishes for the ultra close fit Aluminum Valve stems.  I found the maker in Europe and imported a few.  They are a bit more money than the standard steel ones, but if you need the best valve stem money can buy, this it is.  They only weigh 12g each.

I have both the larger 11.3mm rim opening that fits Japanese bikes, and the smaller 8.3mm rim opening for European Rims.  But as always you should check what size your bike takes before ordering.  I have them in 5 different finishes, Silver, Black, Gold, Blue and Red.
