Hey all,
How are the sport rider days run? Are there control riders/instructors? How many sessions should I expect to run if I participate in them? I am a new racer that has never been to summit and am considering doing the sport rider day instead of racer practice to take it slow and learn the track. If my times are not abysmal and I feel comfortable, I may consider racing the rest of the weekend. What do you think?

do you already have your CCS race license? because the fee is $50 less for riding in the racer group. The race clinic with MARRC will have control riders/instructors....and I believe the street riders do also..not 100 % sure on that though.

as copied from the CCS web site..

Racers and non-racers alike are invited to participate in two Track/Practice days to be held at the Summit Point Circuit's Main Course on May 24th and Sept. 5th.

These "Sport Rider Days" will be run by CCS and will include a Licensing Clinic (school) by MARRC. http://marrc.org/html_docs/rrs.html

What is a Sport Rider Day? It is a CCS-run Practice Day for racers, and an opportunity for "non-racers" to experience how much fun it is to ride on a racetrack.

To participate in the Sport Rider Day track sessions, simply sign up in Registration when you arrive. You may also pre-pay for the practice using the standard CCS/ASRA Pre-Entry Form.  http://www.ccsracing.us/forms/2008/entry/08%20pre-entry%20ccs.pdf

The cost is $100 for licensed CCS/ASRA riders and $150 for others.

Those who wish to attend the Licensing Clinic should apply with MARRC.

I don't have my CCS license yet. I could easily get one though because I have a prov. WERA license. I read the aforementioned expert, and I am not really concerned about the money. I mostly concerned about taking my time learning the course and slowly getting up to speed. I don't know if I wanna ride with the other racers until I feel comfortable with the track. It will be my first time at Summit then.

yup you should be able to get your CCS license with your WERA one...

but do what you feel comfortable with...nothing wrong with taking it slow and at a level you feel fits you best.

either way come out and enjoy the fun!

Do you have any idea how many sessions I might expect?

PJ721

CCS hasn't put a sport rider/track day in sometime...(at Summit Point at least)

but from the schedule posted @ http://www.ccsracing.us/schedules/2008/mamwse/Summit%20May%2024-25-26%20USGPRU%20SCHEDULE.pdf

it looks like they have 4 groups planned..and MARRC rider school as needed...

so figure 5 groups for approx 15-20 min each...5 - 8 on track sessions for the day
that's a guess...but should be close. also depends on any yellows - track clean ups...
