Will CCS be racing at Road Atlanta in the future?

Sig

Who has the crystal ball?

Obviously not this year but I think it would be crazy to speculate beyond that.

Super Dave

And recent past would have one speculate that CCS isn't returning there necessarily soon.  Might be a rental cost issue, etc.

WERA has the GNF there, and they have another event there.

From the looks of it the management ruined the track (turn 12) anyway. I think it's like taking the Corkscrew out of Laguna Seca.

Super Dave

Boy, I don't know about that.  It's hard to make up time in the Corkscrew, but you can loose time there.  Turn 12?  Well, you're in fourth with a wall, compared to second at Laguna.

Seems like they could have came up with something different though.

The mgmt had input for t-12 but so did alot of AMA guys. It was a safety issue even in a cage.  I think it would be a good track to turn a few laps on.

Sig

I still can't figure out why they didn't just plow out a large run off area and leave the original turn in.

have you ever been there? the track surface is about 6-8' below the pit lane which is where the wall is.

ya millions of dollars of renovation, versus, slapping a lil asphalt in.  when they get to keep the turn now for the cars and only lose it for the bikes

Additionally, the change has been needed forever.  It isn't like it was a new problem.  It was a problem last year, ten years ago, twenty years ago.

+1 on another classic track biting the dust!  Being old school I loved gravity cavity... the feeling of bottoming out, then going uphill and slamming it down on your knee under a bridge is indescribable.  So I finally get used to the new version and they add a target parking lot corner to the track?  Let's see, should we move this little wall here or should we completely redesign the track around it and completely ruin the flow.  T12 was the most dangerous corner in racing, but the solution wasn't to make a 90 degree corner... oh well, I guess there's still Roebling... oh wait, we don't go there either...

LOL!  Yeah, I loved the Gravity Cavity.

CCS doesn't do little Tally either, right?
