Deep cycle for motorcycles - no not really.  Battery design is a compromise between CCA (cold cranking amps) and reserve capacity.  A deep cycle battery is designed for RC so it has low CCA - not appropriate if need power to start.  Boat batteries are used for starting but they are typically very large/heavy...  I spent a couple of years @ Johnson Controls Battery managing their paste mixing (Lead Oxide sulphonation reaction) process back in the late 90's.
