Now that the AMA has sold the sanctioning, promotional and management rights for its AMA Pro Racingproperties to the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG), some of the recent personnel oustings that have occurred all add up.  It seems to me that those who were connected to the lawsuit between the AMA and Roger Edmonson were relieved of their duties so that (1) the deal could be made, and (2) so there would be no conflict of interest in the future.

On the actual racing side of things, I can see classes for either/both 4-stroke twins and/or singles to replace Superstock.

They needed a house cleaning either way.

Rights are now sold, and those responsibilities are removed from the AMA's problems, politics, etc.

I don't really see singles as viable, myself.  There were opportunities for big bore four stroke singles within the 250 class that was dumped years ago, and it didn't work then.

Regardless, with Honda buying HRC bikes for AMA Superbike and with Yamaha USA buying Belgarda Yamaha bikes for AMA Superbike, I'm betting that this will be the last we see of the rules structure as it is.  Hopefully, by July or so there will be some announcements of the new structure.

Edmondson says they will review the '09 rule book and go from there.
As for the personnel......he also said they will be hiring new folks to run the show so the people at AMA were probably going away anyway.

Roger is not a committe type guy so I'm sure all those rules committes and such are history as soon as DMG takes over. Dang, will I really have to start paying to get into races?
