So, I didn't see anything that said middleweight rules were changing in anything from CCS.  Twins are limited to 800cc's in Middleweight Supersport, and with 4 valves per cylinder up to 800cc's in Middleweight Superbike.

Yeah, sound like it's restricted in "C" classes in WERA.  Cost of admission is high.  Will still require someone to ride it.

I don't understand how the 848 is a middleweight. It's displaces 40% more than a 600 and makes power comparable to a GSX-R750.

So it claims to make 134hp. In the real world I bet its just under 120 at the rear wheel which is much less than a GXR 750 and only slightly more than a SS legal 636. Considering the price of entry I doubt we'll even see one on the track much less winning anything. I think it'd be a great street bike though. Like my RC but 60 lbs lighter.

You are partially right, had mine on the dyno yesterday and it made 117 hp, for the rest check my signature.....

Pretty good.  What fuel?  First runs?  I'm betting it's about stock?

I made 115 to 119 with hot fuel at the end of the year on the SV1000.

stock. The contingency pays every race, but it pays in certs only good for Ducati parts and accessories and labor. When I raced an SV 1000 a couple years ago I recall my straightaway speed being pretty close to an average 600.

What fairing did you use on your SV1000?

I used hotbodies SV fairing back then, but also that was back in 2004 and 2005. I  think the newer 600s were faster and the ones now are even faster.

Ok, I had an SV styled fairing too.  I was wondering if the GSXR fairing with the ram air holes moved some more air in toward the air box.  If I were going to do it a second time, I would do that.

There will be at least one running ASRA and some CCS GP rounds, we have the bike being race-prepped in our shop right now.

I agree! sweet bike, I'd love to have one but... not a middleweight. better suited for heavyweight

Sweet bike for sure! I'm surprised it's not getting more press. And, I'm not trying to put the 848 down. I'm just anxious to see it perform. So the speculation goes on... 600's in SS are puting out over 110 hp. I wonder if the 848, when equally uncorked, will be that much more competitive in the middleweight classes - especially superbike where 600's are at or near 120hp. (Nobody ever rides their superbike in supersport, that would be unsportsman-like). All my speculation is really a thin mask for my envy. I'd like to see more Euro bikes competing.

We're sure the 848 is fast enough for MW battle, it simply needs a rider who can ride a twin well. Those things don't rev like 600 I4's do.  It will be very cool to have some twins mixed in with the screaming 4's. It should make the class grow and add some variety.

There is a write up on it in pretty much every motorcycle magazine on the market this month .
  I rode mine for the first time Monday at Roebling. I think it will do well if I can ride it right. Top speed seemed pretty close to the 600s.
