I just noticed this: take a look at the rear tire. Is that a crease or a fold at the bottom, just above the pavement? Are sliPirellis supposed to do that? I was having rear tire traction issues over the weekend. I was running 30/28 hot, which I was told is the right pressure for the Diablo Supercorsa

I don't see any darkie coming from it so it looks like it's holding traction pretty well.  If you're running the right pressures according to the distributor, then don't sweat it.  Tires flex.  Granted, I haven't seen one flex quite like this, but I haven't really looked before.

Even though that particular picture doesn't show it, the tire was laying darkies and spinning on exit as soon as I started putting power down, according to everyone that was behind me for any period. There was a really noticeable lack of traction from the rear, which is why I'm asking about this. If it was sticking good, I wouldn't worry about it.

Thanks! Its my street bike. My race/track bikes were still in the process of getting their winter refresh and weren't ready. Winter be damned, I needed my fix.  (This was at Jennings, Jan 5-6)

Nope.

Do you have experience with Pirelli's? They work alot different than other tires. They flex alot more, and you see pictures of them like that alot. if you look in the for sale section, Gary from BRP is selling his Kawi 650 endurance bikes, someone posted a picture of me on it, at very little lean and the tire is flexing alot putting a huge contact patch on the ground. I normally run Michelins, and even on the stiffer tires the ones with white lettering regularly get rubbed off the sidewalls from the roll over. Id say your lack of rear wheel traction is more likely do to the street geo/suspension on the duke.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm glad to know that's just how Pirellis are. Suspension sounds like its the culprit.
