Hey,  I am new to the forum......but raced one event with CCS at Summit Main last year on Sept 8-9.
I run a 05 Gixx 750 with only suspension and brake upgrades only.  I ran Hwt SS and SB and Unlimited SS and the Gp race on Saturday.  I started on the last row of each race of 20 plus riders (because i decided to race right before registration closed on saturdy morning) and managed to do pretty good with a 4th, two 5ths, and a second in Hwt SS.  This was my second year riding track.  I did about 8 track days year in 06 (my first year) and 13 track days in 07.  I bought my first Super Sport type of bike in 05, the same 750 I ride now on the track.

Alright.....enough of my history.....now my question......

With the results I had at the one race I did that I talked about above I noticed that all of the riders I raced with in the top 6 or so finishing positions are all turning expert as it looks in the upgrade list........
After the race in Sept I continued riding track days and did a race with Team Promotion in November and had gotten even faster than I was at the CCS race, running in the 1:19's @ Summit Main.......

So my question......I plan to run a full season in the MA region this year starting with CMP in April.  Is it possible.....or should I even consider turning expert at the beginning of the season???  Or can I race a few races, see how I do and then turn up mid year????  Does everyone on the upgrade list have to turn up to expert???

The faster you go Expert the faster you go as an Expert......or the faster you go out of the sport! But that can happen EX or AM! JMO

Welcome to the forum.  Though I cant comment on 1:19's, cause I aint close to that, (I bring up the rear to make sure the other racers get in safely...hey, someones gotta do it).  But I have learned whether fast or slow, smooth passing and holding a good line counts for a lot.  If you feel weak or need some more practice in those areas, then enjoy a year as amateur, make a good name for yourself, and roll into expert as an experienced, tested expert.  Otherwise I think the decision will still have to rest with ccs based upon your experience.  Whatever the decision, welcome, and you'll have a blast.

That is my goal for this year. Last year I improved about 2-3 sec/lap. Hopefully I can find some more time this year too. I would love to see 1:19's at Summit, that would be 2-3 sec/lap improvement again this year.

I'm also hoping that the new repave will helpout too.   :thumb: We all know it needed it, just hope the car guys don't destroy it again as quick.   :banghead:

thats my suggestion... if your killing it and feel you are ready go for it.  if you are still hanging out just off the podium just use your best judgement

Good luck!!   :thumb:
