Want to give it a try?

Sign up starts January 19th at 9am central time. 1000 riders, $65, usually fills up in a few hours. I am thinking 100K, bit I could be talked into 200K.

This is exactly what I am looking to do this upcoming season - But unfortunately I can't commit at this point - cause I don't know what my race schedule is going to look like by the registration date.....Things seem to be last minute for me as of late..... Sorry guys

Thanks for posting that. I should know by the end of the week if i'll be able to clear things out for that weekend. i'll have a lot of work to do to get ready for that long of a ride though.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOOOHOOO! What a freaken ride"

I can do a flat 100K in under 3.5hrs.

The fasted riders do the 200K in under 7 hours, most take 10+ hrs.

I figure 5 or 6 hours to cover the 100K without killing myself.

I've been working on the stationary bike sporadically. It's too boring to do regularly, though I should. Once it warms up a bit I'll get out on some of the hillier back roads around here and get a better idea of how many boxes of Kleenex and baby wipes I'll have to pack to make it trough the day.

I've ridden this area in the past. The POWWOW bicycling organization used to do a ride called Hidden Valleys that rode from Verona to Platville with an optional loop down to Potosi. The ride ran back to Verona on Sunday, 115 miles each day if you did the optional loops and over 5000 feet of climbing each day.

Then there was the Three Mounds Century that ran several consecutive July 4ths but peetered out after a couple years. It started in Mineral Point and it's 100 mile version included much of the same roads with some very tough climbing. This area is really quite pretty and challenging to ride.

I'm in for the 100K if I can  get registered AND it doesn't conflict with the TBD dates for the Midwest.

I will be signing up for the 100K. I plan on staying in a nearby hotel. We can split the cost if interested.

I will probably be investing in a 13-29 cassette :)

Might take you up on that. Are you going to sign up? It will be a tough ride, but that is what makes it worth doing.

This isn't that kind of ride, I'm sure we can all find a comfortable pace and ride together.
