If your tank is dented, like mine, you are pretty screwed for the sliders. Good news is, the sliders, from what i have read tend to help prevent severe dents as well as keep your bike from going up in flames. :)

Sig,

      Will these cover your dents?

Hey Mongo,

Just out of curiosity - how many cases of fire during/after a crash involving an R6 did WERA experience in 06 and 07?

At our events I can think of 4 or 5, more than the previous 5 years combined....  I know it's bad when people don't freak over a fire because it's become commonplace.

Wow, that's more than I would have thought.  Nothing destroys a bike like fire.  I remember a long time ago at VIR when I threw a rod through the cases and the oil caught fire.  There I was standing just off the straight with the bike on fire.  There was a corner worker running with a fire extinguisher but they were stationed pretty far away and fire works fast.  I thought I was going to loose the bike and was lucky to get the fire out.  If that was a fuel fire I doubt I would have been so lucky.

This really is a safety issue for everyone involved and I'm glad there is a product available to help prevent this from happening.

Are they more than a new bike????

I take it this is about the new R6? Or would it include some other new bikes. I havent heard about this issue with them.

The new R6 has a redesigned fuel tank which shouldn't present the same problems. The '07 and under are the trouble makers.

So I wonder what the next problem will be for the R6 or any other bike in 2008? :err:

Chill.  We are aware of this problem up at Loudon, as we had one go up in flames in Turn 5 last season. I have already submitted the proposal on this matter for consideration at our Feb. 2nd Rules Meeting at the LRRS Banquet.
