Knox Back Protectors Any Good

I'm currently using an Astars back protector for track days...however it looks to me like some of the other manufacturers make one that looks a little more comftorable.  Does Knox make a good protector...or does anyone recommend one for safety/comfort (without giving up any safety)?

I have a Knox Ricochet 8-plate back protector, and it's very comfortable.  I replaced an A*'s with it, and I like the Knox a lot better.

I do not have a knox, but I plan on getting one.  The benefit of the knox back protectors as apposed to most others, is that they have collapsable material that absorbs impact.  It is a honeycomb design.  For this reason, they are only good for one impact, and then you have to get a new one.

I used to use the knox back proctector for years until I got my new Alpinestars race replica suit. I won't use anything but the Alpinestars back protector from now on. The knox protector is very thin. At first I thought it would work good. Sure you can't puncture a knox with a knife but it still bends very easilly. After thinking about it and taking the test. I had someone punch me full force in the back with my knox proctector on and it hurt like a SOB. Almost knock the wind out of me. Then I tried the Alpinestars protector and my buddy almost broke his hand and it didn't hurt one bit.
I'll take a thicker Astar one over the thin one. Honestly my Astar one is made for my suit and snaps in place and it feels perfect. I also wear the Astar chest pad while riding. It felt awkward at first but now I can't ride without the chest & rib protection. I feel way safer with my full gear on. I also wear hip padded stretch shorts by Astar. I think everyone could use more hip padding. I feel way better with the extra hip padding but I'm going to make more for next season.
Also never buy leathers that don't come with good shin bone protectors. Its a must. Kangaroo skin is more expensive but it last about 3 times longer than the old cowskin.

I'll be one of the first to buy the new hans type device that Astar is coming out with for next season also. I can't wait.  :thumb:

I used the Forcefield back & torso protector this year and have been REALLY happy with them.  They're relatively thin (maybe a 1/2" thick), Very comfortable, actually forms to your body, and doesn't move around.  I went down three times this year and never had a single safety concern.  My only bitch was they're really, really hot.

Thanks for the reply guys.  I appreciate it.

My son uses the Bohn back protector and insisted that I get one if I'm going to go out and play on the track. Unfortunately, I did crash test it and it worked as advertised. It also incorporates tailbone and shoulder blade protection, which most don't.
