Right!

That's the advantage to having no slipper clutch.  The guys with them have to have a seperate starter engine or an electric starter...LOL!

What's the total weight loss there?
Could you knock off that much weight by
watching what you eat and doing some exercise?

It's motor acceleration.  It is able to rev more freely without having to act as a generator.  Mass of the starter gear on the crank...

Hell, the Honda superbikes have starters. I don't think it's worth the trouble of removing it. It won't make you a winner.

I think that came about because WSB rules required electric starters in 2001?  

So, factory technology has got the weight down on all those components too.
