Personally I think it's the opposite sometimes. I've seen guys back it off just a hair to be safe in front of family, ending up with 95% commitment into a corner instead of the normal 110%.... Probably goes both ways depending on the personality of the rider. I know I ride much smoother and faster when I know someone is watching ME....

I had my worst crash when my mom came down from Canada to see me race.... Racers always crash when family is around - do we take more chances???
