Mr. Stiles

Hello everyone,

As you can see I am new to this site. I joined because this looks like one of the racing orginizations I will be invilved in. I am looking to get into Sportbike racing to put it simply. More specificly I am looking at the SV650 class, as well as the Superstock D class ( I mean the 600cc, so I hope that is 'D' ). Prefferably, I would like to do the 600cc because it seems in Florida ( I live in Tampa ) it is a far more popular class than the SV650 class. Some people tell me to not waste my time jumping into the 600cc class because it is too expensive to keep up. Others tell me its as expensive as you want it to be, and you can do just as well in other class on the same budget. So I guess my question is this: What are the pros and cons of the these classes?

On a side note, I do have street riding experience on a 600 but no race experience. I do not have a bike right now, I am literally looking to buy one based on your advice. Thanks to anyone who can help me out here (:

riding the Lightweight classes (sv650 classes) will teach you a lot.  I think it would be easier to jump into racing one of those than going into the meat grinder with all the middlewieght bikes.
do you have any track experience?

If I had to do over I would  start in the light weigth class. You learn a lot more racing an under powered bike.
