That's the sentiment of so many people, and I can understand why and totally agree with them.

(enter rant mode)

This Saturday afternoon, I had to pick up a guest from O'Hare.  On my way back North, 294 to 94, I followed a group of 6 complete ASSHATS on the freeway who spent 30 miles spread out across all 3 northbound lanes, cranking standup wheelies at 75mph.

Every time they'd do it, the cars behind them would jack the brakes and it made a mess out of things.

First time, I let it go..  Second time, I got a little pissed..  3rd time, I hit 9-1-1.

Unfortunately I wasn't around to enjoy the cops pull them over and harrass the ever loving shit out of them (which they'd certainly whine about later on an internet forum).  It completely disgusted me to be in any way/shape/form associated with sportbikes.

They have no clue how they messed up traffic behind them and put EVERYONE on that road in danger from their own idiocy.  If you want to hoist wheelies, have at it!!!  Just don't do it on the F**KING freeway!  And if you happen to know who this was, let them know exactly how effed up it was.

And before you go bitching about me calling the cops, how about I show up to your kids birthday party with 6 friends and start playing with loaded weapons.  Tell me how comfortable you're gonna be...

Jeff - I've got your 6 on this one and entirely support what you did.  Effin idiots put everybody at risk and give every other motorcycle rider a bad name.  I hope you were able to give the police the tag numbers from the bikes as well as very good descriptions.

Don't blame the bike, it is the ass that is riding it that needs killing!!!!

I didn't get close enough to them to read a plate.  None of them were mounted in a visible location anyhow.

Yeah, Guy, you're right, it's not the bike at all.  The problem is that assholes like this change the views of EVERYONE that's around them, and then wonder why people have no tolerance for them...

I get even more insensed because I may have taught some of these idiots the MSF BRC/MRC rider classes and they're well on their way to worstening statistics.  Can you spell natural selection?  The interesting thing is that if you got any one of these Awps on the track, they'd be the ones ripping past you on the straights and parking on the corners.

Jeff -

Your an asshat.

For waiting until the 3rd time it happened to call.

This is another reason I don't ride a sportbike on the street anymore.

On a back country road or some parking lot somewhere, it's not a problem in my book.  On a freaking chicago interstate it's a huge issue...  Nobody in a car knows how to react when somebody does that on a bike and so their natural reaction is to hit the brakes.  It can and does get dangerous quick.  Not to mention if/when somebody goes down, there's a chain reaction accident waiting to happen.

And I'm not talking a little front wheel air on the on-ramp.  I'm talking stand on the seat, standups for 20 - 30 seconds at a time, sit on the tank and crank one out, just general stupid shit...

It really boils down to endangering other people for your own thrills.  Wheelies on back roads or on a deserted parking lot are fine - no harm no foul.  Another rant subject is drunken driving a large SUV - excess selfishness, endangering others for no good reason.

What? No chase vehicle recording it for posterity? Check youtube in a few days, they might show up there.

Yeah, they do it on Highway 100 by my house, too. No helmets, chicks on the back, doing stoopid shit that makes us all look bad. That and the sport tuner types running 3 wide across all lanes crawling down the road, throwing thier micky Ds trash into the median. texting with one hand and smoking a ciggy in the other.

Jeff, you don't get it. They are Sooooo Coooool. You just be an old man now.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

I don't know. Kind of mixed feelings on it really. I can understand the part about being wizzed off by seeing them do stupid stuff. But then again, "Almost" all of us have done the same thing and one point or another. I just get bugged by phone calls to the cops. Because I have 7 bikes and one person has a cell phone, I had the cops at my house twice this weekend. Once because two guys ditched a sheriff deputy and once because someone passed a car in a no passing zone doing a wheelie. Constantly hearing "someone called in a complaint about blah blah blah. You know anything about that?" gets real freaken old.
I can see both sides though and I still think stand-ups between cars are cool.

"Almost all of us?" interesting.  I never knew that about the people I know.
