The gears out of a 98-02 zx6r will fit on the shafts for the 05/06 and work with no probs. The 98-02 should all work as they are the same motor. I had a set put in mine by Rick @ RnR Cycles when the trans went out in my 636 earlier this yr. He had a set laying around and they work just fine, they arent the same part numbers but they work fine. I'm sure the gear ratio is a little different but I cant tell the difference.

did he replace the input gears as well as the outputs?

Yep, swaped everything to the 05/06 in/out shafts so you still retain the slipper clutch.

Just my $.02, but I put in a used transmission ONCE.  It ultimately cost me a motor as the tranny went in my second race, and I did a poor job in its second replacement.

Moral of the story, if you're pulling the bike apart THAT far, don't put used parts in...

Well Thanks for all the imput found a whole trans and replace it already will have to find out how it works. Running a sportbike track day next weekend if that goes good I'll be ready for blackhawk!!!!!!
