Moto GP @ Indy

I may be a little early for this.  How does FIM recruit workers for their events?  I am playing with the idea of working corners at the Indy Moto GP.  Just for the fun.  I don't think the track layout is very interesting but I am willing to entertain the idea.  I already have years of experience local and national level for bikes and cars.  I just have been on hiatus due to marriage and work.

WORKAMPING AT THE INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY is an opportunity not to be missed! Seasonal positions are available for race weekends of May 27th, June 17th and July 29th of 2007 in the outside paid parking lots. The event in May can consist of 2 weeks to 1 month of work if desired. USGP and Allstate 400 weekends include 5 days of employment for Workampers. Workampers may work any or all of the events that fit in to their schedule. The duties consist of supervising camping areas, directing traffic inside the parking lots, and customer relations with all the fans that camp at IMS. Wages are comparable to other Workamping activities and depend on the duties each Workamper is willing to take on. The employee badge each worker receives allows for gate admission during track activity. All Workampers will have the opportunity to park in the lot they will be working in. We provide dry camping, but water truck and pump truck services are available through companies contracted by IMS. Workampers should expect to arrive for work no later than the Wednesday before the event and should plan on leaving sometime Monday afternoon after the event. I'd like to go and work the turns...don't think I want to do the Workamper thing though. Sounds like parking duty to me, can't imagine thats much fun!

I would think Moto GP would have their own corner working staf wouldn't they???
It would be a cool way to get close to the action though.

I've seen threads on other boards where people have worked Laguna Seca and even went overseas to work races.  I'm guessing you just have to find the right person to ask.

MotoGP give the task of getting corner workers at Sega to USARM (http://www.usarm.org/). I have a friend that was a corner worker at the MotoGP event in California this year. There are back up people for back up people at every corner. He said 30 people at each corner.

With that many people pick ups should be no problem.  The bike is locked up?  No problem at all.  Everyone picks up the bike and tosses it over the fence.  Depending on who the rider is you could do the same thing.

Worked the GP at Laguna last year.  You gotta go through USARM as was mentioned.  30 people on the corner was still inadequate because few new what they were doing- car workers, as the USARM org mainly is,  just don't have the knowledge/skills.  They effectively ruined Stoner's race there last year because they didn't have a clue.

As far as Indy, I'd contact Egor Emery.  See the thread "Point of contact to cornerwork" for Egor's contact info.

I just received this email from Egor Emery who coordinates Daytona events and looks like he is starting to work on Indy for Sept 2008.  Thought it might be helpful for anyone interested in these events.

deal, but the 2008 Daytona 200 is the best preparation you can get for the
inaugural Moto GP at Indianapolis which will be held on September 14, 2008.
Don't miss out on these great events!

Fall Cycle Scene at Daytona: October 18-21, 2007.

The event begins with Hammer School on Thursday. There is a full program on
Friday including the Team Challenge race(43 laps) starting at 1200 hrs.
There will be a 2 hr Moto ST practice starting at 1700 hrs. Again this year
Moto ST will have an endurance race starting at 12:30 Saturday afternoon
and finishing at 2100. Sunday has several more CCS races than last year and
concludes with the ASRA program. There will be an awards ceremony Sunday
evening starting at 1900 hrs.

Workers are needed! If you would like to be considered for working Fall
