race 7 on sunday at summit point, saw the white flag, then the debris flag.  look back at the track and there's something crossing the straight right in front of start/finish.  it looked like a groundhog.  i probably missed that thing by a tenth of a second.  i never let off the throttle.  wonder what would've happened if i hit it.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Is ground hog on the list of wildlife to watch for that hangs at registration?

Yep, most likely it was a ground hog!  :ahhh: :ahhh: There have been SEVERAL calls this year regarding ground hogs (and deer).  A couple weekends ago we had a ground hog fatality on the front straight, amazingly no one went down and the ground hog didn't even leave debris on the track after getting hit.  This past weekend, there was another ground hog fatality in turn 9, again, no debris left on track and no rider down!!

It's not unusual to have ground hog fatalities at Summit. I've yet to see anyone go down after hitting one though.

i would imagine with the bike straight up and down i'd be fine, but mid-turn might be a different story.

I was helping crew for Rightsforbikers.com during the Moto-ST Race.  One of the riders radioed in that he had run over a groundhog  :ahhh:

Everything was ok but I'm sure it startled him.  Back at hot pit we wondered if the debris flag was out while a connerworker ran out with a shovel for clean up, poor little guy  :wah:

I'm pretty sure I would have left some "debris" in my leathers after that...

who was the guy that hit the turkey with a 150mph head butt (was that last year?) kettle bottoms as I recall...
