Steve, really sorry to hear you need surgery. I hope it goes well and you make a full and speedy recovery. I was looking forward to talking about the days races with you at the end of the day. Hope to see you at BHF, even if your not racing. Take it easy.

I used to race, now I don't even own a bike. Dam limited income.

Awesome!!!

some more advice I have for you then is to keep it still and relaxed for a few weeks so the calcium deposits up.. and then try and be somewhat active so the blood flow is increased and healing is accelerated.

Like I mentioned, I've shattered my right clavical and broken my left one twice and I am not one to be held back when I really want to do something so I listen well to my body and have pushed it to it's limits in my past.

on a different note, my buddy Ray Am #71 highsided in the Bend at RA and broke his collar bone too.

wtf is up with all the collar bone breaks lately...   sheesh...

really glad that there's no surgery required for you Steve

Good advice Jim.  That seems to be the general consensous on what to do.  I'll tell ya though just in the two days of taking that stuff and letting it rest I can feel a difference, really.

I heard of two other people who broke their collar bone at
RA too.  Must be something in the water.

Thanks for the advice.

Steve - did you break it in the GTU race?  I got smacked hard into the pavement in the bend and broke my right one in that race - folks in the med center said there was another rider in there at the same time with the same colalr bond broekn.  Got to take a nice ride in the ambulance to Sheboygan (I went into shock after getting off the track), and noticed a loaded race trailer in the parking lot when they released me that night.

No surgery here, but the lingering pain sucks.  What sucks even more is having to stay off the bike for the next several weeks.

Heal soon man!

steve p

Mine was in the HWSS race. 1st lap.  I was fortunate enough to get some advile from my friends and was able
to drive home.  went into shock after the meds wore off
and they put the fig. 8 brace on.  Ouch

Actually the fig 8 brace relieved the pain for me, but make sure you air out the armpit.  That thing holds you so tight that unmentionable fungi thingies breed in there.  No, I won't provide any further details....
