Maybe one or more bikes were leaking fluid in small amounts and nobody noticed it, cause that's a lot crashes!

They haven't had rain down there in a long time, and there's a TON of rubber on that track. The track was good in the cool of the morning, but after lunch that rubber on the track got really snotty. It clearly caught a lot of people off guard.

including me.

Thanks to all the cornerfolk who stayed on top of things and dealt with a tonne of wreckage!

I hadn't been to VIR in a year before this weekend, but the exit of turn 1 (or I think it is actually turn 2) seemed kinda slippery to me.  I never realized that the rubber could cause that since I always thought rubber made the traction better but I guess it could become too much of a good thing.

The rubber can get kinda greasy if it gets pretty hot.  The other thing to remember about the exit of 1 and 2 is that there is a seam running with the track there.  If you get your rear tire on that seam it will make you spin the rear, and feels like the bike is doing all kinds of bad stuff.
