If they were the same boots he was wearing early this year at a MAM track day they were A-stars.

thanks everyone... i lost the front in t-3 (bhf) tumbled a little, broke my ankle in 3 places (yeah its pretty bad... i'll post up the x-rays) but was otherwise unhurt :wah: had surgery friday to install these external support rods (looks pretty mid-evil, i'll post up some pics later). going in for surgery to repair the bones next week. It'll be 8- 10 weeks before i can walk again :wtf:
i was wearing astars supertech boots and the ankle support snapped like a twig... so did my ankle!
i doubt  any boot would have protected me totally but i will buy the best i can find now.
thanks to steve, matt, jerry and ray for all the help and to everyone else for all the encouragement and concern... i'll be back

Get well Rob, sorry bout your mishap.  I bet Dan Ortega has some insight on how to pimp your rod's... Heal up man!

I was under the impression that the A* s-tech's where pretty beefy... I guess at some point something has to give.

I saw the marks and the after math, not good.  try the bone stuff that Rosno is pimping.  I tried it and it works great.  I think the ingredient that helps the bone mending is called microcrystaline hydroxyapatite or something like it.   I think it helps most at the early stages of mending.

Get well soon

OK, I've been looking at my boots and thinking I should probably replace them since the middle of last year.  Based on this I am going to order a new set of Sidi Vertigo Corsa Boots right now!

Sorry to hear about the damage done.  Good luck and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Yeah the supertech's are REALLY good boots-Like Rob said no matter what you wear sometimes your just going to break bones lol!  I do pay a lot of attention to different safety gear and personally I think the best boots for the money are the supertechs.  If I really wanted to blow a lot of cash I would go with Daytonas but they are pretty huge money and don't seem to be all that much better.  I have to say the Sidi's dont' really impress me all that much.  They LOOK like they have a ton of ankle support but all that plastic crap on the outside breaks quite easily..  Plus you can flex them at the ankles by hand and you get a lot of movement compared to the astar boots.

gotta agree with ya nick... of all the boots I've looked at I would have to say the s-tech's have some of the best protection.

I know they sure are comfy!!   :thumb:
