This is my first year racing and I'm a little confused about the ROC.  Is it a regular CCS points race?  I noticed that one of the classes I compete in - F40 - isn't listed on last years schedule.  Also it doesn't look like you get much practice over the course of the weekend.  Of course I'm used to Henry's Florida race style with practice all day Saturday.

We intentionally skipped the March Daytona race due to the expense and logistics on such short notice.  I'd like to race there now that I have more experience and hear what other riders are saying about it, but it seems like there are lots of other race events going on and I would only be entering one race in CCS the whole weekend.  I planned on going to the Hammer school regardless.

no points, yes f40 ,different layout from march, lots of fun , lots of money ,lots of crashes, can win championship throphy in one race.no one ever shows up for the 125 race.enter two more races and forget about team hammer .needs to have henry run it to make it a spectical again.

There currently are 2 different layouts used at Daytona for the bikes (commonly refered to as the 'traditional' and 'new' layouts). In the Spring CCS uses the 'new' layout because it's the one the AMA uses the following weekend so it only makes sense to only have to set-up all the safety equipment once, in the fall CCS uses the 'traditional' layout for the ROC. The ROC is purely a national championship determining race for each and every class that is run there, it's outcome has nothing to do with your regional points championship in your specific region (it's completely seperate from everything else you do doing your regular season).

For both the spring and fall events CCS uses a 3-day race format (Fri - Sun) while Team Hammer has generally put on a Track Day / Racer Practice on the day prior to the events (Thursday). CCS practice is very limited due to the # of different practice groups run at Daytona (generally 7), that limit's practice to 2 sessions each on Friday morning followed by the start of the races with the 2 Hour Team Challenge most likely run 1st. Many racers (especially those who don't attend the Team Hammer Day) will enter the GT 25 minute endurance races on Friday for more track time before their sprint races that weekend, these very often fill up and should be pre-entered if you plan on running any GT race(s). For Saturday and Sunday there will only be 1 CCS practice session per group each morning, so make sure not to miss them!

Daytona is Daytona, it might not be the most challenging track, but it's unlike anything else you will probably every race on. The banking can be a little intimidating at 1st, but you'll get use to it. Have fun if you end up going!  :thumb:

Daytona rocks. This is my first year racing and I'm doing the entire MA schedule. My first race EVER was Daytona this spring. I'm trying to talk myself out of going this fall but it's a losing battle. I'll most likely be there.

don't get me wrong if I could only race one race it would be daytona it's our indy 500 in years past people would build bikes just for the daytona 200 (like indy) now they have ruined the 200(like indy)if you haven't raced there you haven't lived the racing dream from the slowest to the fastest we all get the same rush. we all go out nervous and comeback feeling alive you'll never look at nascar the same again. they ain't got shit on us.the problem I have is the date is in the bike weeks so hotels are expensive the guards are nazi's. practice is short. unless you buy it'.(because they are dreaming of giant grids with 7 sesions) I really think since this is in fla Eric ought to have Henry Degow at least look at how it it could be made better. I don't agree with henry on everything but he's a racer and knows how to put on a show .

Daytona was an experience, but it sucks how expensive everything is there.

True that. But I did enough recon during my first trip to make my second trip cost less than 50% of what the first trip cost. Everything down there is just so damn inconsistant. You ask 5 track employees the same question and you'll get 5 different answers. Annoying as shit, but well worth it.

I did my first race of the year at Daytona (drove from Iowa).  It was my first weekend on my new zx-10r too (lots of hp and couldn't get a good start).. Thanx to Mike Simone for tips on lines, i ended up having a great weekend.  Hoping to go back for ROC but undecided at this time.  That banking is SICK!  have a short video on my sponsorhouse page if you are interested (got a horrible start, timid on the banking but ended up passing quite a few guys).  www.sponsorhouse.com/members/racrx451
