Does anyone else have a problem going through knee sliders?  I only got about 5 sprint races out of the last set of Klucky Pucks.  Is this normal?  Am I doing something wrong?

Hey Becka. I used to go through a set of slider in a weekend or two. But i got these super hard ones that a MCRA guy made. I think his name is Gino, he is friends with pimpdaddy if you know him (on the buell). anyway, they are super hard and slippery, I like them alot, and they have saved my ass a couple times where a softer slider would have hooked on curbing and twisted my knee up. Id suggest looking him up if your coming to the trackday. which brings me to my next question, you going to gateway sunday? trackday? racing?

Becka, you puttin' all you weight on that thing or what?  Looks like you really hang your knee out.  I'd probably say that you don't need to do that.  Ride the thing on the tires, not on your knee.

Tell us more...

Ive had the same problem before until I learned to pick it up right when i hit the pavement initially.  Pucks costs so much these days.

yep, just skim your knee.  Use it as a lean angle indicator.

+1. i tap it on the ground right before the apex or right before i get over about 30% throttle, so i know what part of the rear tire I am on. my long ass legs help to, it makes it easy to pick up the front end quickly without having to drop my ass to far off the seat to stick my knee into the ground. Im actually suprised you go through pucks quickly little one, get that damn knee off the ground, you need every ounce of weight you can get on those tires.

I'll put it on my knee while I'm still on the brakes.  I'll keep leaning, and I'll pick up the knee with it.

Got to move the knee with your lean angle.  It's not a book end to hold up the bike.  That would generate friction and drag.

Hmmm...I wonder if anyone's ever tried duct taping a brake pad to the slider...another brilliant capitalist idea...

Someone used to duct tape race plaques to their leg.

I used to hang my knee out and put my weight on it. it's taken some getting used to and i still dig it in pretty hard sometimes without thinking but now i don't put so much weight on it and once it hits i just let it skim rather than really "slide".

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "WOOOHOOO! What a freaken ride"
