I've got a "private label" Colmen, that looks exactly like the LCT2600,  it's noisy, but not bad, at 25 - 30 ft away (or on the other side of the trailer) you can't hear it.  It's labeled as a 3125 pro-force (2500 constant operating watts.  Runs tire warmers and my trailer (about 500 Watts with all the lights on) with no problems, but the tank is a little small.
Picked it up at the local Fleet Farm for $250 on clearance last year.

Didn't someone on here have a line on a Honda EU2000i last fall?

EU2000's can generally be had in the $750 range, but that's 3x the price of the noisy construction generators being discussed here.

Noisy generators suck.  If you have one, at least be kind enough to limit it to 8am - 10pm.  Running them overnight is not cool...

I know a lot of people in the RV world who have had great success with some chinese gensets named "Kippor".  I have a good friend who bought one for his boat and he is absolutely 100% satisfied with it.  He recommends it over the Honda in that if the thing burns up he can buy 2-3 of them before he gets to the price point of a similar honda.

A 2000w QUIET generator will suffice for most paddocks.  We've run 2 sets of warmers on a 2k, or 1 set of warmers and a coffee pot...

You'll make no friends with a loud ass generator.

Yeah, I'm back now and will start going through all my mail. I will also have one, or more if people ask, of these at CMP this weekend. Look for the Bridgestone guy and that will be me.

I'll probably have mine running my trailer since the power there gives trouble some times.

There is somebody locally...actually up my street, about a block down, that posted a sign that said "Generator For Sale".  I mean come on...what are the chances, I'm looking for a generator and there just happens to be one for sale on my street?  Just randomly?  I don't know!!  Anyway, the guy says it looks/works brand new.  Its a Coleman Powermate 5000 watt 10hp generator.  He's asking $400.  I figure maybe offer him $375?  They sell for about $600 online.  What do you guys think?  Good deal...jump on it or no?

Again, looking for something to power 2 sets of warmers, fan, and possibly something else small.  Also, we'd like to buy right the first time, instead of buying small then upgrading.   So recommended, or overkill no matter what we plan on plugging in?

Also, If we wired some lights to a trailer, and plugged them into a power strip, would we be able to run those as well?

Thanks again for all the info you guys provide!!

If its the 10 hp Briggs with the folding handle I have that generator.  (I may have the 10h Tecumseh but they run the same price.)  I've run it for three years and it's been great.  I'm thinking about selling it for a quiet Honda since I no longer have two bikes at the track and don't need that much power.  That generator will easily run two sets of warmers with power to spare, although I can't say exactly how much since the most I ever ran at once was two sets of warmers, a fan and electric drill.

Pros - Runs all day on a tank.  Plenty of power. Sturdy.
Cons - A bit heavy to lug around.  Overkill if you only have one bike.

Noise - Moderate, IMO.  Definitely not quiet and I wouldn't run it at night, but no worse than the other standard generators out there.  I place it away from neighbors.
Price - It runs about $600 new.  $400 isn't bad if it's in really good shape.

If the one you're looking at is in good shape (i.e. sat in a garage and wasn't used much) and you can get it for $350-$375 that's not a bad price.  Some people hardly use them and others abuse them and never change oil so it's hard to tell.  I've been through two of the smaller 1850 Coleman Powermates even though I changed the oil regularly.  I'd avoid those.

I'll sell you mine for $300 if you're in the Midwest and don't mind that I bent in the front panel of it a bit.  Forgot it was sitting in front of the car.  Oops.  The damage is all cosmetic.  I dented it the first weekend I had it but everything works fine.  Can get pics if you want.

This isn't the same generator as Stick's LCT2600. The 2600 will run _all_ day (and then some) on a tank, and is way quieter than the Coleman 3125. There is no other generator on the market right now with the combination of quiet, power, and price as the LCT2600.  The only way yo get anything quieter is to get one of the inverter style (big $$).

While we're on the subject, if you've got a generator that isnt' _very_ quiet, put a little effort into mitigating the noise. I bring (3) 4'x4' pieces of plywood with me to the track, and use them to build a little lean-to where I put my LCT6500. It takes about 5 minutes, stays up all weekend with a couple of Velcro straps and a couple or tie-downs, and from 20' away I cna't tell if it's running or not during the say, because general ambient noise drowns it out.

I'm sure there's something you can do at the track that is more rude and inconsiderate than running a generator out in the open all day and night, but I can't think of what it is.

I have one of Stickboys LCT's.  Runs fine and isn't too loud.  I'll have it at the May 12th weekend @ BHF if you want to take a look/listen at it SuperDave.

I can think of one... Playing a loud ass stereo at 11 on the volume knob... when people are trying to sleep.
