Is this generator a good deal.  While comparing prices and features, this seems like the price and wattage is ok.  What can you guys tell me from your experiences.  From researching I see that loud generators are no good.  Is there a way to tell if it will be loud?  I see some guys at the track put the generator far from where they pit and run extension cords?  Is that allowed everywhere and a good idea?  I decided that warmers and a generator would be a good investment for the track, now I just need to learn about them so I know what to get.  Thanks for your help.

thats a big generator.
what is it you plan on doing with one would be a a good question to ask first.
camping running a trailer.or just running tire warmers during the day.
camping you want a quiet one so you can run it at night with out keeping everyone awake.
just for tire warmers a generator big enough for yourself or maybe one other person will do like a 3000.
quit is still good for that too.
i believe hondas quiet one is under 50 dps some that are in th 60 db range arent too loud you can deal with them while close to your pit area.
the bigger the generator the more room it takes up and you have to move it around unless it mounted permenit some where.

Loud generators are only loud.  Should produce the wattage you need though.  Placing it further away from yourself is really related to your neighbors and where your at at the track.

Coleman makes generators for themselves, and they make generators that are branded for other companies.  How they make them for each company is contingent upon what the company wants.  I had a John Deere generator that worked very well.  It was made by Coleman at the time, and it was "medium loud".  Didn't need to put it 100 feet away, but I didn't want it too near in the pits.  Other side of the trailer was good.  Not sure how loud the one you're looking at is, but I've seen them at the track.

I believe the 6250 is the surge wattage, and I think the regular operating wattage is more toward 4000 to 4500.  Maybe you know more than me.

Loud smloud! I will run my Coleman Powermate right under my EZ-Up and there isn't a thing nobody will do in the middle of the night. I kinda like the noise anyway. Helps me sleep better.

Thanks for the info guys, and thanks for the db levels.  Gives me some numbers to look into and compare.

I'd like the generator to power at least one set of warmers...two would be best for me and a friend.  Also maybe a fan for hot days and a heater for those colder days.  I searched and found some info about 1000w not being enough for warmers and fan.  I think the one I posted might be overkill, but I guess its better to be over prepared then under prepared.

I hate those loud ass generators. If you are looking for something on a budget get the 2600lct

It's cheap and MUCH quieter than the coleman

now sure now many DB is it, but it's not quite as quiet at the hondas but you can be 10ft away and have a normal conversation.

Super Dave

That's a wide range.  I can do that with one of my Yamaha generators, but not the other.

You will see these generators all over the pits at any given race weekend, especially WERA events. I'd say just check one out or email stickboy, he might have DB numbers.

I wish I knew this before I bought my PowerMate 6250. I like that I can power anything I want to, but I do wish it was quieter, even though it's not the worst around. Those are nicely priced, too.
