Any Mid-Atlantic (MD/VA/DC) Racers going to Daytona?

Hello all:

Just dropping a quick note to see if any racers from the area are heading to Daytona who might want to go in on renting a house or hotel rather then camping at the track?

Also looking for travel partners rather than travelling alone for safety's sake (hate going alone just in case)

I'm heading down Thursday early AM for the weekend.  I'm driving alone as well but am leaving Saturday night.  You can caravan with me if you like.  I drive pretty fast though ;)

Thanks... say is that you in the front in the picture?  if it is are you the novice/street rider that I was working with at Shenendoah circuit last year then you crashed in the last session?  just curious....

I am planning on heading down on wednesday night/thursday am depending on if we are able to get on the track at all on thursday (not sure if there is practice time available on thursday)

Biggest concern was if something happens how to get stuff home ya know...

Yes I'm going down.  Finalizing the plans now as to when I'm leaving.  Probably the Monday or Tuesday before, stay in a hotel, and leaving on the Sunday after the last CCS races.

My pit buddy is flying in and out of Daytona.  The bastid!

Have you figured out where you are staying yet?  I have a line on some houses that can be rented or maybe go in on a hotel room if you have not set one up yet.

I have been seeing that we cannot tent camp at the track, and I did not think that you had a camper trailer....

What are your plans for the days being down there?  Robert Lee and I are planning on getting a hotel room.  (In fact I'll probably book it tonight once my wife decides about flying in before to see disney or not.)  Right now it's looking like I'll drive either Monday or Tuesday and be in ahotel Tuesday night in Daytona.  At least that's my plan.  I'm bringing 3 bikes, Robert 1, at least one pit bike (YSR50 communal pit critter), tools, spares, etc.  We've been able to fit more bikes pretty easily in the past.  What are you bringing?  When were you planning on going down?  (Fly/drive/etc)

I was planning on bringing the bike, a couple of bins with parts, etc, small toolbox, e-z-up (in case there is no garage space at all available) plus clothes,etc... basically everything usually fits in the bed of the pick-up.

I was planning on heading down on either wednesday or thursday (depends on if there is any track time available on thursday)....

I was talking to a fellow racer who is also a real-estate agent and he has some friends down in Daytona that have houses for rent.  He is getting back to me this week and if a few (2-4 or more depending  on size) go in on a house, it could be much cheaper than a hotel.

Well....wife isn't going.  :-)

That means I'll probably drive down Tuesday...leaving from NoVa bright and early. Probably arrive in Daytona around 9pm-ish.  I've got enough room for another rider/bike.  (We pack 'em in like sardines!) and gear. 

Garages are full already...I checked.

Houses can be hit and miss depending on the neighborhood.  I was looking at Orond Beach for some of the less expensive places.  I don't care about the hotel...it's not like we spend any time there anyway.  Basicaly I pass out there at night, shower in the morning, and leave.  Repeat each day until I leave.  (Remember...I'm old and need a ton of beauty sleep....I'm uuuugly!)

Well, if you can take my bike and a minimum of gear with you, I can drive down in my car and meet you on wednesday or thursday and compensate you for transport of the bike and stuff down there.

As far as the hotels go, I did some checking on priceline.com and orbitz.com and had found a couple of hotels in the Daytona Beach area from around $110 or so a day(Priceline) and from $44 a day (orbitz).  I can go in with you on the hotel when I get down there if you want.

Either way, let me know, I am getting some things done to the bike at TSR next week, and I can bring the bike to you for transport wherever you are.

Ed, we'll need to get together for a beer or 3.  I know a really good Mexican place just outside the track.  Food is great and the beer is cheep!  And the gas created by the beans is good for 3HP!
