It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of a brother. John G. Capen, 64, of Columbia, Maryland, passed away on January 23, 2007. John battled Pancreatic Cancer very bravely, maintaining a smile even in the worst of pain. John leaves his lovely wife Elaine. John was a dedicated MARRC and SCCA member who volunteered for more than 30 years to make roadracing a glorious sport. John was the best controller for the safety crews at Summit Point Raceway, as well as a chief in flagging and communications. His bottomless cup of coffee kept John sharp! And funny too. A true gentleman and brother has left this world.
Godspeed John. Save me a spot on the grid in Heaven. God bless Elaine.

Didn't know John, but he sounds just like Bill Ritger.  Sucks.  Cancer takes down another guy who devoted his life to our sport.  Maybe they're partnered up now and organizing the Big Sky Roadracing Series.  Godspeed.
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"
