started my diet/excercise/nonsmoking/lessdrinking regiment this week... well the smokin was a few 3 weeks ago...

low fat, high protien diet, mind the carbs (not starve, just limit) minimum of 30 mins of Cardio 5 days a week these first 2 weeks, will go to 15 min cardio (tread/eliptical) and 45 min circuit training once I get my lungs back... 4 days a week on that.

I think the big kicker will be cutting out the 15 or so drinks a weekend I typically have... I might have the occasional drink in the evening (1 glass of red wine works like ambien when I cant get to sleep).  But I go out with the wife and friends almost every friday and saturday night... and lets just say I typically dont drive home   That should save me a few hundered a month as well (thats like free racin money and no hangovers!!!) I cant lose!

Steady 195 by the end of the year is the goal...

Ben, got your message, we'll set up for next week.
Baller, I got a free Dick Enrico (look up 2nd wind fitness equipment) bobble head doll for you if you lose 25
Struyk-let me know if you need any help for your programming or any periodization help to get you set up for the season
p.s. carbs aren't bad, just try to take in all whole grains for your carbs and you'll be fine, not enough and you're body will go into ketosis...i don't think you want kidney stones  :kicknuts:  not to mention that you're body will be working against yourself during your workouts if you don't have enough carbs
:blahblah:

I have never been big but - this season I want to be at 100%....I don't want to leave anything to chance or say "Well if I did this" Or "I could have tried harder" - basically I don't want to have any excuses..... So I have been busting my ass in the gym - at home - on the Stationary bike- proper dieting - proper sleep.... All of this is done under the supervision of a trainer - So I don't get too out of control.... But I am in the best shape of my life and I have also lost 10 pounds since last season(I'm down to 155 & I'm 5'11").......  So here's to everyone and hoping that it all pays off next season.... Cheers

Looks like your headed in the right direction!

You may want to consider abstaining from sex too.

Studies have shown that it's a sure fire way to increase your ability to focus and improve your reaction time.

Like you said, your don't want to leave anything to chance!!  :thumb:

Oh I agree... just paying attention to them.  The 3 course meal that consists of dinner rolls, past, and a 6 inch slice of chocolate cake is what I'm talkin about.  I have always understood the value of carbs, I am just paying attention to them now!   :thumb:

Well, first let me say that some things in life are just worth the consequences.
That being said- I was a cross-sountry runner in high school.  I wasnt an all-star, but some other guys at my school were.  They were so hooked on winning that they DID GIVE UP SEX for the entire season.  They were also top 10 finishers at the state championships.
Not that any of us would have had something that steady going anyway........But I am proud to say that I told them they were crazy and that I did indulge when I got the chance   For what its worth- I think they were right and that it did help them, more from a "save your effort" standpoint than anything to do with mental concentration.

I played football in college and I always seemed to play the best when I got a little the night before.  You just have to let them do all the work, non of this --> :boink: it can make your hamstrings a bit sore the next day
