1.)  Has the age situation been rectified with CCS insurance this year?  I've emailed what i thought was a CCS email address, but haven't heard back yet.  My son is 14 and will be 15 in April.  He raced WERA all year, but would like to have the option of doing CCS races if they we are able along the way next year.  We had a 125 for him to run last year with the GPRU, but had to get rid of it when the insurance changed and wouldn't allow kids under 16.

2.)How does it work with Daytona?  Can you get a waiver for the races down there in March and Sept/Oct. for a 15 year old if you can proove rider ability?

Last I knew CCS allows down to 14, but in lightweight classes only. 16 otherwise. Some tracks though have age regs. Now if that takes priority to org rules I dont know.

I believe that Daytona has an age restriction regardless of any racing organization.  Call Kevin or Eric at the CCS office.

WERA's rule?

Doesn't matter, really, because each has different insurance, and that will affect how each organization deals with younger riders.  At one time, there was a few riders younger than 14.  Tommy and Nicky Hayden come to mind from the early 90's.

CCS started placing the age 14 restriction earlier.

Thank the laywers and the poor investments of the insurance carriers in early 2000.

Call the office, but do report back here as I'll have a 15 year old racing this year (maybe)...  Worst case she waits until May when she's 16.

Our basic rule is 14 for 600's and lower, 10 for the minis, but our insurance company leaves it up to our discretion to make exceptions to those depending on the riders skill/experience level.

Daytona and Road America have age restrictions. RA is definitely 16. Call the org you plan to race with and ask. Better yet, if you know which tracks you'd like to attend, call them. Better to play by the rules and not fudge in case of a serious incident. Insurances will not cover anything outside the policy parameters. Also, as a parent, it's important to set an example to our kids on following rules.

Do or do not, there is no "try".

Who doesn't check ID's? WERA? CCS?

Daytona 16 period (not our rule and it is not flexible) and was the only track with an age minumum higher than CCS rules in 2005.
Last year with the new insurance carrier we had a min age requirement of 16 we have been working to bring that age back down (to 14, 12????) we have not heard an answer to that yet.

Working with a new carrier is always such fun.

didn't intend to offend anyone. though it did add a bit to my smite count. hehehe
but i know for a fact that the hayden's fudged on their ages in the past and i lied on mine when racing sprint cars ages ago. it's done from time to time by those that really want to play the game. do what you have to do to get to where you want to be.
but yeah, playing by the rules is always the smarter road to take.
