With the ease of sending out mass E-mails today I was wondering if other's would find it beneficial to have CCS updates sent directly to our personal E-mail accounts (or which ever E-mail account we want)?

This could be really useful in the case of changed schedules/event info, cancelled events, rule changes, news, etc. Track Addix already does something like this and I think it's a great idea that CCS should do as well. I personally think it wouldn't require much work, but it would benefit CCS and the racers by keeping everyone up to date as to what is going on so people are not caught off guard by things they didn't know about. I realize there is a place for announcements on the CCS website, and here as well, but this would be something that would grab your attention as soon as it's sent - not just if you happen to be on 1 of the CCS related websites.

I was thinking we could just have a link here and on the CCS site where anyone could send an "Add Me" E-mail to a CCS E-mail account so we would automatically go into their E-mail address book as wanting updates sent to our account. In the event someone wanted to be removed they could send a "Remove me" titled E-mail to that same CCS linked account. Simple, yet effective. So what do you guys think?

That would work great!!  We did this in Hawaii and we never had a problem with people not getting the info.  It would also help when people change addresses.  Very rarely do people change email.

Brilliant idea.  Can you get CCS to do it?
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

Oh goody.  More e-mails...

uh no thanks.

Exactly the reason I wanted it to be a totally voluntary thing.

I don't know why CCS would object to doing something like this, it seems so easy to do and requires minimal work. I just mainly wanted opinions from others as to if they would like to have this option available. The home address comment (or phone) is another reason, if CCS was looking for someone who may have moved or changed their phone number they could send that out in a general E-mail to have Midwest racer Mike Williams CCS #58 please contact CCS, this way if the person themself didn't see it maybe someone who knows them could relay the info to the racer or CCS. I was just thinking that something this simple could really help things to run a little smoother.

I'm all for it.  There is an e-mail section on the 2007 licenses renewal form.  They alrady gather that info and should utilize it more effectively.

That's what I was originally thinking myself, but then people like Don may be recieving unwanted E-mails, that's why I thought the self subscribe option would be a good way to do it. Another option would be to put that as a question on your racer application, if you would like to recieve updates via E-mail? But CCS would still need an E-mail option available for those who don't race (or may be considering it) and may still want to be "in the know".

Mike,
It's a good idea and the opt out feature would solve unwanted e-mails.
(I confess I was being a smart ass.  I get 100-150 emails a day at work and now someone just decided we all need to start using instant messaging. Hence the reply.)

LOL, I certainly understand that Don! Spam is such a problem nowdays, thank God for spam filters!  :thumb:

I don't think there would be very many CCS general E-mails sent out anyways, but when they were sent out it would be for a reason relating to CCS in some way so I would rather get them, even if it were just a newsletter.
