I did the team hammer school and would love some pics myself if anyone was snapping.

Yes, there were independent photographers there as well as some that sort of "work for" the track.  I will post up contact info for them later today.

For some from track photographers go here http://motorsportsarchives.com/Standard/Login.jsp

leave the fields blank, click connect, select the 2006 misc images, submit.  Then click on the arrows to expand Fall Daytona.

If you guys can help out the other who look, when you find a race you know, PLEASE post what race it was and what page.

I see the Sat. HWT supersport race starts on page 244 and the LWT SS race on like page 241

You didn't click on daytona fall. Do that first, so you drill down to ONLY the Daytona ones, only 369 pages

russ1962

When you get to the page that shows the 4,000+ 2006 Misc. Images....  look on the left side of the screen.

You'll see:

>2006 Misc Images

  2006 Images

Click the second one, which expands that to a menu containing "Daytona Fall" (second menu choice).

When you click the Daytona Fall listing, you get to the pages for just Daytona.

Question for fotog's...  How come there are so many more pictures of the winners in the catalog, and far, far less of everyone else?

Here's my sarcastic logic: If I were a fotog, and I know I don't take pictures for personal enjoyment, I'd take the kind of pics that would SELL.  So, who buys?  Well, in my opinion, it's usually the other guys, behind the leaders.  Those slower, up-and-coming guys are far less experienced in the field, and are pretty excited to be there, and are hoping someone will emblazon them in picture glory.

Let's just pretend I'm one of those guys.  I don't think I've ever bought a picture of any other rider except me.  I know, kinda smarmy, but hey, I don't care about who won when I'm buying pics.  I just care how cool I look in my pics.

Maybe there's less pics of me since my motor crapped out in the first 20 minutes of the 8-hour event.  Hmmm.

I know our excuse.

The photog sits lap after lap waiting for the riders to arrive and with our small bird like brains we quickly lose track of what we are doing there and wonder if we need anything from the new pottery barn catalogue, just when we are about to become nature photographers we see signs of a horseless single seat carriage heading our way and like a frightened hunter we let lose with a volley of shots and the poor leader of the pack always gets it dead sharp center.

Honestly though, that isn't far from the truth.  Being isolated from the group will get you more photos.  When you have a group of riders in close proximity the photog has to choose who to shoot and if you aren't keeping a mental tab on who you've shot you're likely to shoot the same person over and over every lap.  It's strange and I think it dives into the realms of the sub-conscious and being attracted to certain colors or patterns or something.

We've got to the point where if their is a group of say 5 riders together we can photo 3 of the 5 but than you have to remember next lap to shoot the other 2.

I think it all may be as confusing to write about as do at times.  8)

Awesome answer, awesome.

I like it.

Say, can you try to get maybe a blurred pic of me next time?  I'd even buy that one, even if it was someone else, I could tell my friends it was me as long as there are some colors that look like my bike in it.

Based on your logic, of running alone for a while, there should be a million pics of me in there from the 8 hour race.  I was alone most of the time, except when every single rider in the entire field was blasting past me like they were on fire.  I swear, most, if not all of those bikes were running like they were being chased by the police or something.

Our strategy was flawed, but worth the effort.  We tried to save tires and fuel.  Figured if we waited in the pits long enought we'd be able to skip 8-9 pit stops.

Hi Andy,
Love your work, look for an email from me as I need to purchase a mixed cd of pix.
I hate your website, though. Being computer geeky, but short on time, I both appreciate your cool flash site, but I hate to wait as I cycle through while the code does it's thing. Do you have an html version of your site? Even with the upgraded broadband (now a lighntning 4.7mbps) it takes several seconds to load an image.

Oh, and Russ? They all took pix of you, (in the thong) but it broke the lens and now you're on the "do not photo" list.

Do or do not, there is no "try".
