Chain Master Link ?

I am currently running an RK chain that did not come with a clip type link.  I'd like to use one instead of a press on link.  Will any 520 master link work or does it have to be specific to the chain?

I won't bore you with all the stories of mechanical and physical carnage I've observed over the years that was caused by clip-type master links.  I say, "Rivit that sucker!"

Any 520 link should work, but I'm superstitious.  I always use the same brand link unless I'm at the track and begging.  Parts Unlimited carries RK chain.  Any shop that deals with P/U should be able to order a RIVIT-STYLE RK master link for you.

I would stick with the rivet link. I have had clips fall off even with safety wire and RTV.
Remember to never reuse the clip, which usually are only sold with a new link.

If the manufacturer does not make a clip link, then I would not use a clip link.
Even though all 520 chains are supposed to be the same, the thickness of sideplates, rollers
etc do not have to be the same. One manufacturers masterlink may fit another manufacturers chain
but the risk is yours, I would not do it.

The risk can be more than his. Came into T10 at Gingerman 2 weeks ago only to find someones chain right in the race line. Not exactly what I'd like to run over. I won't use a clip link, chain tools are cheap insurance. Ever seen what a chain can do to an engine case if it piles up on the counter shaft sprocket?
