Why can't CCS have more money races? What's the big deal? I'd be willing to pay an extra 20 bucks per race to have a chance at winning some money. I think it would make the racing more exciting and more competitive inside each others heads. I could also keep racers going if they are low on cash.

What's your thoughts or comments on this?

People who know they can't win won't want to pay the extra $20, so fewer people would race. It only benefits the top 5 or so, the other 20 people on the grid would be losing out.

I've said it before, I'll say it again...  If you really want to run a purse race, talk to the others on the grid, throw your $20 in a jug and split it among those who paid and finished in order 50% 30% 20%..

In fact, that might be MORE fun because if I knew, say, Andy or Brian weren't in the pot, I'd throw down a $20...

Purse races aren't going to support those who can't afford racing.  Period.  It will benefit the best, and almost without exception, the people who are the best, have a budget that can already support them...

Unlimited GP pays to 10th and it still attracts riders while costing more.

When Voiceeclipse put up money for a few races at Blackhawk, the racing was very, very good.  Better racing makes a better show.  A better show gives a reason for others to watch racing.  Racing for points only is only a little different than a track day with plaques.  This isn't getting better real quick.

+1 w Dave, Actualy a lil cheaper than trackdays! I only race 2 races, Im a newb!

Super Dave

Is it?

Two races...sixteen laps...as long as no new classes are added.

Three rounds of practice?  24 laps?

Gate fee for you and your friends.

Overnight stay.

At least with expert unlimited grand prix, one gets a few laps for qualifying.

I don't know about that. The GT Lights grids are smaller this year without a premium price and certificate purse. There were more bikes on the grid when we paid more for the chance to win some back.

Thanks, Paul.  That was my feeling, but I didn't have much to back it up.

Reduce the number of expert classes and offer money classes in classes like Thunderbike, Middleweight Supersport, and Unlimited Grand Prix minimally.

yeah it would be cool if we went back to let's say 2003.  Money for GT races, on saturday, money for ULGP and Sportbike on Sunday.

I agree That would be good. One money race for each basic class size expert.

Paul & Dave, while that might be the case for GTL, I know that GTO is bigger than I've seen it in 3-4 years...

I think that simplifying the structure, reducing the races and making them more of a "featured" item would be beneficial to grid size and the sport.  I ran 4 classes on the same bike this weekend, and will run 6 classes at Gingerman.  That's pretty crazy in my opinion.  I guess I would like to run maybe 2 feature classes with more laps, than 6 classes with little distinction between them and fewer people.

When we've had PACKED grids at BHF (wegman weekend, I think in 04 or maybe 03.  A WERA and AMA event were canceled due to a hurricane if I recall correctly and everyone showed up), we had grids of like 40+ bikes.  Dicing your ASS off to get 25th place was an absolute BLAST.  It would have only been more fun if the race had been twice as long.

I don't know though... Obviously if there are fewer classes, the fees will increase.  Will that bring more people out?  I doubt if it would bring the new racer out, but it would definitely keep the existing racers and probably convert some of the other regional club guys over to run with us...

Now that is a quick and easy fix...  I love it!!
