Where is a good hotel to stay in Daytona.  Usually I camp but this time we're getting a hotel.

Have you checked hotel prices?  A Super 8 goes for $56 on Wednesday night to $180 on Thursday night.  After checking around 30 hotels we decided to camp.  It's free with your admission.

A tent is free with a paid admission.  We get in as part of our race fees, My wife will have to pay the $50 at the gate which includes camping for up to 2 tents.

But you're right.  RV with hookups is $275, without hookups is $175.  A trailer fee is charged to store your trailer which they won't allow in the camping area.  Sleeping in the trailer has become an easy way to camp at the track for us.  I think the fee is $10

I've heard that if you call and low ball the hotels and week or less before the event they'll give some good deals. Octoberfest in no where near as popular as Bike Week in the spring, so it makes sense I guess.
I'll be seeing you there.     -Snack

How does it work at Daytona for the pits? Do you leave your trailer in the pits and have to pay a fee?  Also I noticed the camping fee includes 2 gate passes, but as a racer I get one with my entry fee, will they discount the camping fee if you don't need 2 gate passes?

So, just to confirm.....

1) Camping is allowed at the track, just not in the paddock.
2) The camping fee is included with gate passes.
3) To leave a trailer or pop-up in the paddock is another $10 (per night?)

Is this correct?    As usual, I would like to stay at the track and sleep in the van.  Will this be possible at Daytona, if so what will I need to do.

Thank you very much for the info.!!
Begin it now.

Sleep Inn, Ormund Beach.  From International speedway head down Williamson and the Sleep Inn will be behind an Applebees's, Chilis and Steak and Shake off to the left after 5 miles down Williamson.. Reasonable rates.

FYI  I've been watching hotel prices on the travel websites.  The prices are dropping as it gets closer to the event and there are still plenty of openings.  Just thought I'd pass that along.

We're staying in Altamonte Springs-- between Daytona and Orlando.  40 miles from Daytona and close to Disney World, cuz we're checking Mickey out too!  Package rate for round trip flight, car and  5 nights hotel VERY sweet

MJ and myself are staying at the Super 8 that's like 2 miles West of the track, nothing fancy, but easy to get back and forth to the track. They originally were asking $219 per night like so many other places, but when I made the reservation several days ago it had dropped down to the rate we paid to stay there in 2003 - $139 per night. I have stayed at the Hilton down on the beach a couple times with PJ and it's a nice place, probably the biggest drawback staying there is it can be a real pain in the ass to get back and forth to the track if it's during regular Bike-POSER-fest hours. They also nail you with a $6 per day parking fee at their outlot a block away, and $30 per day for a trailer! But I do admit it's a pretty nice hotel.  8)

We're going to the Magic Kingdom too.  Probably Saturday after our races, which end at 12:00 just before the Moto ST event.
