I'm looking to get a license so I can try out racing at autobahn and BHF next month. My question is: I heard it was possible to have an instructor from a trackday org. sign off on me so I don't have to attend the school. I've been riding on the track for 2 years with over a dozen trackdays and ride middle/front of the pack advanced with NESBA and STT. Is it possible to do this and what do I need to make it happen?

Contact Monte (STT) or Garth (Nesba) and ask them the specifics. I think they can do that.

There needs to be a certification.  Getting an approved racing certification isn't about the volume of track day riding, but it is about passing a simple written test about safety issues that are related to racing, not track days.

Might be easier to contact CCS for the approved list.  Additionally, I believe there is a list on the CCS site.

Email Monte at Sportbiketracktime.com, you may be able to get him to sign you off or certify you at the Blackhawk date on September 9, 10.

You need to know what every flag means, how the number board works, how to grid up, ambulance procedures, you are allowed to pass an ambulance during a race if its on the race track in a safe maner.

Read the CCS rule book. Print it out and put it by the shiter.

Let me clarify this. Yes a certification can be updated, but you must first have passed school. Also the update must be from the same people that certified you to begin with. You then must remain current in your riding with that particular school/track day group, ie LCR school then practice with Team Hammer won't work.

FYI NESBA and STT do not do rider certification classes

If he is correct, then theres your answer Nick. Set aside 150 bucks to take LCR on Saturday. Don't crash in the school.  8)

Damn the school is $175 at autobahn... How fast do they fill up? I don't want to sign up until I'm sure that I have that saturday off work (I'll find out next monday). What if I don't get saturday off and take the race school and don't get my license until next year is that cool?

Your diploma is good for one year.
