I already posted this in the wrenching section, but this might be a better place to put this.  I'm trying to convert the stock rearsets to a gp shift pattern.  I can't figure out how to do it, and it's driving me crazy.  The only alternative I see is to drill though the shift lever and make a new mounting point for the linkage.  Please help!! :ahhh:

You don't have to drill any new hole. You have to bend out the heal guard, take the bolt out on the heim joints and reverse the the rod to be on the out side on the transmission side and frame. Take the linkage bolt out and reverse that piece also. You can do it, I HAVE done it for a bunch of guys.

can you do a step by step breakdown for me?

moreover, how do you remove the bolts?  they're flat on one side, and I've tried everything I can think of, including a hammer...

U can also just rotate the shift arm around the shift shaft 180 degrees.  U will need to adjust the length of the shift rod slightly longer to accomidate the change and still be able to reach the shift lever....   Sometimes the shift rod is a bit short and U may have to reduce the degrees a bit.  Think I rotated mine about 160 degrees counter clockwise  to be exact.   If your shift rod rubs the frame U may need to shim it a bit by placing a washer or spacer under the rear sets where they mount to the frame...
