As I watched the MotoGP race today I realized what freaking amateurs we really are.  I mean, we have some tight racing from time to time, but to have 6 or more bikes separated by THOUSADNTHS of a second.  Trading paint and places 20+ times in but a few laps.  Absolutely incredible...

I don't know that I've watched too many races that have actually raised my pulse rate, but today was one...  wow...

and you know, in all honesty, the 250 class is usually better racing.  todays MotoGP was good, but the 250 is like that all the time.  not uncommon at all for there to be 6-8 lead changes per lap between 3-4 riders

It was by far one of the best racing I've seen in a while.  The 250 race in Turkey was even crazier.

That was like the good old days of Lawson, Rainey and Schwantz.  Amazing stuff!  Interesting to see that the manufacturers (bikes and tires) seem to be very close now, too.

And I loved the three riders on the podium.  They are my three favorites.  The third place guy, missing the win by about 1.6 whole seconds against the two other fastest guys in the world, and he says, "No excuses."  Wow.
The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

AWESOME racing this weekend my wife was on the edge of her seat screaming go Nicky. How about that stoner crash? Watching the leaders rounding the corner and all the sudden you see stoners bike appear in the frame 20 feet in the air!!! Glad he was ok. Stoner and Bubba both get 10's this week for spectacular wipe outs. I also loved the 250 race in Turkey!

After watching this race the AMA Superbike race was boring.

Awesome racing... definitely.  It was the first time I've been home in weeks to actually catch it (no Tivo... it's in storage.)

I have this theory that Rossi sandbagged... "Ooops!  I make mistake and fall back to 5th place!"  Sure.  A "mistake".  Right.  Just so he could play around in the back a little before tearing off again.

Yeah, there's a reason they make the big bucks... some of the best athletes in the world IMO.

Come on!!!   The final gap to the next rider (no spoiler) was .575, and the next .735.  The sand baggin' days to let the other guys think they have a chance before walkin' away are are over (this year - probable next too as I expect Honda to stand out with the 800's).  If he was doing his normal routine he would have set the fastest laps on his final laps and stepped away by 2 seconds or more.  I'm sure he was trying, but it aint so easy these days.
