I brought mine to have them sandblasted before getting them powdercoated. Quick and easy...

Have Edgar change your tires!

(just kidding)

Sandblasting probably works the best, but might get buggers in your bearings.  Paint stripper and a scratch pad will also work with significant elbow grease.  If you're just painting them, just scuff them, prime them and paint 'em.

THAT is a loaded question...  I don't know that I can legally comment about Edgar and my rim.

If you have a cabinet or a cheap sand blasting place then i would say remove your wheel bearings and get them blasted. Then scuff em.

On the other hand though the Aircraft stripper works well and it may be cheaper. Just make sure you have good gloves, a mask, a paper cup, a paint brush and a razorblade scraper. The thing with this is you want to make sure you dont gouge the metal to heck.

blasting is easier and better

Well my guess your buddy tried to either removed an ANODIZED coating or just didnt follow directions (it can take a while to work and if you're impatient...) or tried the cheap stuff sold at Farm and Fleet. For the GOOD stuff you need to go to a body shop supply store.

Go to an auto parts store or Farm and Fleet and get 3 bottles of Gasket remover by permatex. Spray it on and walk away come back in 20 minutes and spray it down with a hose or better yet a pressure washer. You may need to do this several times but the three bottles should do the job. It works great, Dave Doe taught me this about 5 years ago.

:thumb:  Thanks I'm gonna give it a try soon...   How "toxic" is that gasket remover?  Stinky?
