What color Roofing & Siding?

I'm looking to reside & roof my house.  I can't stand the current color, but am not sure what to go to.  I want something that is going to stand out and fetch a good dollar on the market should I decide to sell in the near future.

I am on the top of a large hill, so the house stands out already.

There are a ton of earthy tone houses in the area with tans & browns.  I'm considering a white/black combo.  Any thoughts?

Additionally, if anyone knows of a reputable and reasonable contractor in the SE WI area, please let me know...

Jeff, email (tzracer@execpc.com) me your phone number. My wife used to work for a siding manufacturer. She can fill you in on the best type to buy and she knows many of the contractors. She can help you with colors. She currently works for a window/door wholesaler.

Better yet just call my house and leave a message

I would go with a Dark Charcoal, almost black roof. Here is a pic of the last house I built. Dark roof with sand color paint on Hardiplank siding.

I spent a couple months doing roofing sales in New Orleans after Katrina and for you house I would say you want a high profile 30 year shingle at least with the pitch of the roof it will be very curb appealing pluus the added wind and hail protection.

Colors I have never been that great with but I like the Weathered Wood (gray)or Resawn (light brown) on most roofs black is too stark and white/silver looks like something out of a bad 50's eco model.

I had you pegged for a "Honda red kind of roof" guy...

hehe..  If it weren't for resale value, I'd have a woody put on the roof.

jeff -being a home improvement contractor specializin in  roof/siding/windows etc.(family buis. since 1957) i couldnt resist this one... black and white are the worst colors imo a mistake.  erics right get at least a 30 yr. "fake shake" or architech. shake. tamko or certainteed are a couple good ones, many others also. as far as siding get somthing w/ a lifetime fade warrenty for sure and at least .044" thick.many many good companies- norandex, amcraft/royal building products,mastic/alcoa are a few.many bad ones as well, i do not advise going to home depot/lowes/menards...they do not have the same quality products as your wholesaler/contractor. colors?...get yer wife/girlfriend some samples and let her have at it. just dont let her pick everything in the same colors, that looks a little plain too. good luck! (feel free to contact me with any product questions, ive worked w/ most over the years)  rob

Yes, I do want vinyl.  Funny, you echoed the exact comments made by Brian's wife who sold siding for 15 years!  Right down to the thickness & brands.

Cream colored siding with navy shutters and a charcoal roof. Paint the from door Honda red.

You need some interest in the front, so if you have the time and motivation, plant a few flower beds. Perrienals will come up every year, but annuals will give you instant impact. Buy a bunch of bulbs in the fall and you'll have some great color in the spring.

Ya know what I like are the houses that have that dark green type wood paneling with the dark maroon roofs. Thats a nice rustic woodsy look.

I drove past a house today that I really liked.  Darker brown, almost an olive'ish color with white corners, soffit & window trim, coupled with a darker olive roof.  It was really sharp in comparison to all of the tans & browns I see in the neighborhood.

Should do something more like this (ironically the woman who sold vinyl siding lives in a house with wood siding).

What's the opinion on Landmark shingles and Winchester Bay siding?  Also, what are a "Rolex" soffit/fascia?
CCS AM 815... or was that 158?

Jeff

pink?  ugh.

I talked to a guy last night and believe that an earthy olive with white corner-posts/shutters/window trim will be our choice.

Jeff, I won't tell my wife what you think of her choice of colors, especially from a guy with a baby blue house.

KB-certainteed landmark shingles a good, certainteed is a large company that has been around forever, a good choice imo. rollex is good, pretty much all aluminum soffit is the same, rollex cost a little more than others but has a better color selection (many colors are the same from one manufacturer to another). ive never heard of winchester bay siding would need more info for an opinion. just dont use vinyl soffit   rob

Hated that shit since the day I saw it...  However, the attached 2 car and detached 3 car garages got me through my hatred...
