Anyone else racing against these two from Columbia. Just curious what opinions anyone has about them racing in Amateur. From what I understand, they have raced in Columbia for years, they are sponsored by Red Bull already, not to mention whoever else. I certainly don't mind competition as long as it is fair. These two are great riders, I'm not mad at them, just frustrated with the way CCS Florida is allowing them to continue in Amateur. They are dominating all the events they are in, I have seen two other riders give them a run, Matt Sewell and CCS# 781 "Boof", he is on a 2004 R6. Other than that they are killing everyone and passing some really great expert riders as well. IS it me or should Henry Degouw step in and do what is right? I, like many, are still progressing and learning and will one day possibly be at the same level as the two brothers. They are consistently running Expert lap times and should be competing with them. I know everyone will not agree, just my opinion. I'm sure this is equally frustrating for others as well.

Sounds like a repeat of last year with Laya.  I don't think you can "force" a rider to go expert in his first year racing in the states.  Obviously if they were FIM licensced riders that'd be a different story.  I don't know why they'd want to stay AM if they can compete at an expert level.  Winning AM races really doesn't prove anything.  They would develop much quicker too.  Perhaps Henry is just waiting for a while before making the suggestion to them.

a couple years ago James Casmay (Jordan Suzuki's manager) was racing amateur in the midwest. He was fast as hell and won nearly everything he entered. Nobody really said anything because he was a true amateur, but from what I understand about 3/4 of the way through the year CCS strongly recommended he finish the season as an expert.
The funny part was, when he stepped up and got on one of the Jordan Motorsports R6's he beat Tez pretty badly.

I AM THE TRAINER OF THE LOPEZ BROTHERS, AND I WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH ABOUT THEM, THEY STARTED RACING IN 2004 IN SCOOTERS 100 C.C., THAT WAS IN JULY, THEY DID A LOT OF SCOOTER RACING AND THEY GET IN TO A BIG BIKE AT THE END OF 2004. 1 BIKE FOR THE TWO OF THEM., THEY STARTED RACING 1 RACE IN COLOMBIA, TOMAS RACE THE SUPERSPORT AND SANTIAGO THE SUPERBIKE CATEGORIE WITH THE SAME BIKE, THE FATHER WHENT TO SPAIN AND , WHENT WITH THE KIDS, THEY HAD TO RACE 6 RACES OF THE AMATEUR REGIONALS OF CATALUNA SPAIN, NOT THE SPAIN CHAMPIONSHIP, AND THEY DIDNT GET IN THE GRID FOR THE FIRST 2 RACES, THE OTHER 4 THEY CUALIFIED LAST, AND FINISH THE CHAMPIONSHIP WITH ONLY 4 RACES, NOW THEY ARE IN THE U.S., WITH 5 RACES WITH BIG BIKES 600 C.C., AND THEY ARE ONLY 16 AND 18 , THEY ARE NOT EXPERTS , THEY ARE FAST THATS IT, AND THEY ARE LEARNING DAY BY DAY, THEY DON'T THINK ABOUT MONEY, MECANICS, NOTHING THEY JUST RACE, AND IT'S THE FIRST TIME IN ALL THE CCS TRACKS.
THE AMA ITS THERE GOAL, BUT THEY ARE DOING IT STEP, BY STEP, SO PLEASE DONT TALK THINGS WITH OUT LOOKING THE FACTS. THEY CANT HAVE YEARS OF EXP.. BECAUSE THEY ARE 16 AND 18 THEY STARTED RACING 1 YEAR AND 11 MONTH, AGO IN SCOOTERS 100 C.C., AND THEY HAVE ONLY 5 RACES PRIOR TO THE CCS, ALL OF THE HISTORY OF THIS YOUNG GUNS IT'S POSTED IN THE WEB OF OUR TEAM WWW.MOTOXTREMERACING.COM.

PLEASE I BEG YOU, THEY ARE CHILDREN DONT ATTACK THEM, DON'T PUNISH THEM FOR DOING THINGS THE RIGHT WAY OR FOR GOING FAST, ITS THEIR FIRST YEAR HERE, AT HOMESTEAD THEY ONLY WIN 1 TIME, AT DAYTONA ONLY 1 TIME, AND FROM THERE THEY ARE GETING BETTER AND BETTER.
THOSE ARE THE FACTS.
ANY CUESTIONS? I WILL BE GLAD TO ANSWER THEM    SORRY IF I MAKE GRAMATICAL MISTAKES I DONT KNOW SOME WORDS  THANKS AGAIN AND WE ARE PROUD TO RACE HERE IN THE US

Santiago, great reply!  Please take your CAPS lock off though :-)

Others...  If you're being beat as an amateur, it happens!  Don't think that just because you're getting your ass handed to you that the person should automatically be an expert.  Last year in the Midwest, Nate Dobert won a TON of races.  He was an amateur, and was entitled to his championships.  Now as an expert, he is finishing top 5.

It happens every year, there are ALWAYS fast amateurs who can and will dominate a series.  If it's not you, I'm sorry.  Continue to work your program to be as fast as them!

A top amateur will typically be running times that would put them in the top 5 as an expert from what I've seen over the last 5 years.

And just because someone comes with support, that doesn't mean they are some high-level professional who is sandbagging.  Think about it.  What the hell is there to sandbag in Amateur CCS racing?  Win everything, you'll still be SPENDING money.

If these kids are smoking fast and their goal is AMA, they are on the right path from my perspective, and good for them!

as stated above, something like this happens nearly every year.  last Year Gustavo Laya, this year the Lopez brothers taking to the competition. These riders are talented and i can understand the frustration the other AM riders have but every 1st year racer should be able to complete a season and go for an AM national championship. They will be bumped up Im sure and then give us a run every race weekend as Gustavo does now in only his 1st expert season. I would prefer fast guys get 1 year of race exp. before they go mixing it up with the faster riders anyway, now at least they are out front or near it.. and can learn how to ride before they try to mix it up in every corner and will be a safer rider for it next year.

Show me the evidence why these riders should be experts. Otherwise or until then, if you can't prove it "shut-up"! Once again it's "sour grapes" :o!

Do they have Red Bull helmets?

FWIW: They aren't sponsored by Red Bull N.A.
Eric Bostrom, Ben Bostrom, and Jake Zemke are the only Red Bull sponsored roadracers actively racing in the US.

I don't know about the Lopez bros. But Seth Starnes & Robb Wilkey are both ripping it up in WERA. Seth ran 1:35's at Barber this past weekend. He's a second year racer.

VILLA 132

They are not sponsor by Red Bull , they are not Red Bull riders, the only one in the team sponsoir by Red Bull is Santiago Villa (me) and it's Red Bull Colombia, i'm not a Red Bull International Rider.
