Tell Stumpy thanks for the stickers.  Looking forward to them.

Anybody know times for the FX qualifying last year?  I know the race was wet, so the times were low.  I just wanna see if will qualify with a 2:32...

Duhamal qualified with a 2:17.952 last year.  I think you'll need at least a 2:30 this year.  I'd like to think that the fastest time will drop 1 second this year, unless the weather plays a role.

Good luck on what?  Running one or qualifying with one...  I know I can run them...  But if I need a 2:30 or better to qualify, well...  We shall see what I can turn in a couple weeks here...

Jeff, keep in mind that the practices are at least 40-50 min long.  So, 3 practice sessions, 1 qualifying, and 1 race.  Plus, promotor practice if they have it and you choose to attend.

You know how long your tires last.  Just do the math and do what you are comfortable with.  No big deal.  I just said you may need more than three sets based on my experience of throwing tires on Knuppy's and Hanson's bike for an AMA season.  No, scratch that.  That was a hallucination caused by the crack. ;D

To be fair, they did have tires that were not used up and could be run during other practices, etc.  I guess they were on 1000's too.

You could not race your way out of a McPlay land.

Who let Baker out?    ;D ;D ;D

Jeff, expect that the pole time will be faster this year.  Tire technology changes for the factory guys as it does for us.  And if it rains, the factory guys will still be way fast.

Tires...you're gonna have to work the set up.  Newer tires are going to allow you to do that.  Still, you've got to be in your budget.  Sit down, plan it out.  You'll be fine.

There is the promoter practice.  Tires for that?  It's a whole day of practice.  You can start with an old set, but think about having a set for that too.  Weather will, theoretically, be better in June compared to April.

Jeff - Last year I qualified in Supersport with a 2:29 and change I was 30th on the grid out of 40(I think 40)...??? The cut off time in Supersport was 2:36...Tommy Hayden was on pole at 2:19...Now that was with the 112% rule so factor in the 110% and how it was mentioned earlier that the pole time will be faster(a given) you can kind of compare your times in a few weeks to what you think you will need to be doing...Although like Dave said it will be warmer in June..... I will be runnnig Road America's AMA - but I don't know what class - I would like to be able to run both FX and SS but I only have the one bike for this year.....I was leaning toward SS but if your gonna be in FX - I may just have to change plans.........An AMA race is an experience that you can't have every weekend at Blackhawk - It is good to be able to see where you really stack-up every now and then....

jeff i would start with a new set of tires for practice, a new set for qualifing and a new set for the race
remember that your practice times are what determines what qualifing group your in, so practice is important in ama unlike ccs

my math tells me we need to do something less than 2.30

Jeff

Really the qualifying group is irrelevent as I will most certainly be in the 'slow' group regardless of how smoking fast I run.

I would run Supersport or Superstock, but my bike doesn't qualify anymore...  (how hard are they through tech?)

So the concern now is that if I stand no chance in hell at qualifying, I guess it makes no sense to drop the $$$$
