AMA Question

For those who have run AMA events.

I'm curious to know about spouse/crew passes for a single weekend.  I've seen the credential passes for the entire season for like $600+, but wondered if there is anything that will allow for some assistance for a single weekend.

Case in point...  I want to run Road America, and would like to be able to have some assistance at the pit wall if necessary.  How much is it going to cost me???

Yes, there is a one weekend crew pass.  That's what I had last year.  I can't remember how much it was.

Jeff, if I remember correctly, I believe it was $75 or $90 for the weekend.  This will will give them full access over the pit wall, etc.  Additionally, to get a crew pass, the person must have an AMA membership.  I think you can buy the membership when you get the crew pass.  It is $39.

I wouldn't be able to help the whole weekend.  But, I have the credentials to get over the wall if you need help during qualifying or the race.

Pre Enter for the event and you can get a guest/crew credential.  The person must be an AMA member.  

I dont think Post Entry will work.

You have to go out to AMA registration with the person you are getting the crew pass for and ask for the guest pass.  Show (or purchase) AMA Membership for that person and you are good to go with a crew pass for your Mrs.

By the way, those prices are from memory... and 2003.  You should be able to find the info in your AMA paperwork if you have it already.  Let me know if you do not, and I can look it up in mine.

Oh, there is also a 'Riders Only' section to the AMA site.  There is a lot of info there.  But, you must have your license before you get a login ID.

I know for a fact that the person you are getting the pass for has to be an AMA member - I think last year at Road America I got passes for 6 - 8 people and it was 40 or 50 bucks a pop...But then again I don't remember that well, I kinda fell off the bike during the SS race.....

What's the hold up Jeff? Are you waiting for them to give you a license or what? The more local boys the better...Come on out.....

I can get the license...  It's the budget thing.  If I can lock up tires, I'm in...

Yeah, regardless I'm going to get my license.  I'm filling out the paperwork now and it will go off later this week...

Stumpy preentered, but I didn't get my pass until that weekend.  It was no trouble at all.  

For your budget, you will put new tires on EVERY time you go on the track.  There's your first expense.

Yep...  I will only be able to run the FX race because of my bike.  Planning on 3 sets of tires...
