Ok. I've got a 2000 Ducati 750 SS. BHF's May 6-7 will be my first race. Thinking of doing it like this:

GT Lights
Thunderbike
Lightweight SuperSport

Does this seem like a good starting point? Are there other classes I should consider instead? You guys are the experts. Let me know. Thanks!

Your 750 Duck is a lightweight, right?  Yeah, it's air cooled, so that sound right.  Those are three fun races for sure.  You could race Supertwins, LWSB and LWGP too if you have deep pockets!  And F40 Light if you're at least 40 years old....

The frame was snapped, the #3 rod was dangling from a hole in the cases, and what was left had been consumed by fire.  I said, "Hey, we've got all night!"

The book's great!

Seem like good choices for races...

You could add Ultra Lightweight Superbike and it would probably be the most competitive there, where you are not competing against the SVs.

I see by the schedule that the Superbike Classes run only on Sunday. Is that correct? And why all the practice on Saturday for Super Twin when they only run Sunday as well?

PJ

Hey Rocco,

Good questions.

Ultralight Superbike will be your most competitive class. Smallest grid too.

Lightweight Supersport will be your next most competitive class.

Beyond that, you can run GT Lights, LW Superbike, LW GP, Thunderbike and Super Twins. I won't touch LW F40 since it always bugs me when people ask me why I don't race that class.  ::)

As far as the practice groups go, do yourself a favor and run group 5 practice, combined AM/EX Thunderbike and Lightweights. It's a slower group overall and you'll reduce the risk of getting punted by a faster bike.

See you at Blackhawk!

Paul we all know you won't run F40 because you would prefer to race in F50.

Looking forward to the season getting started. Thanks everyone for the advice. Yes, slower, at this point, is what I'm looking for. I should hope that along with more time, comes more speed.

Hey Paul. Looking forward to seeing the group again for the races. Had fun last year even though the weather sucked!

F50! You bastard!  ;D

Yes, that's what we need. Another episode of the Ed Key show. See Ed. See Ed holeshot. See Ed pull away. See Ed pull away while looking like he's not even trying. Look, Ed's slowing down! What's wrong, Ed? Doh, there's the checkered flag.

Rocco, yes the weather sucked that weekend. Here's hoping it sucks like that every weekend...

As others have mentioned, the race choices seem very good.

Don't kill yourself with 10 races/weekend for your first weekend.  3 is very sensible...
